The day after the movers....

We packed what we'd need for the next 12 days in the bathroom, with a big DO NOT ENTER sign in green, taped to the door....

....they took everything else away in a big container....

...and this is what was left in our house last night.

Poor Bob the dog, he's just not sure what is going on. Last night we slept on that fold out foam divan and he slept wedged between us, like a living hot water bottle. ;-)
~~~~
Today I am home alone and it is very cold in this house, winter can be felt in every bone. I've just shampooed Bob the dog and given him a blow-dry but I'll turn the gas heater on for a while so he can get nice and toasty (and so can I!).
After Mass this morning I went to the laundromat and did our first 'camping out' washing. $8 for one load to wash and dry. I think we'll go easy on the washing for the next two weeks!
It's actually quite nice doing this...very simple living, even simpler meals (I have 1 pan and 1 little saucepan to cook with), no refrigerator (I have joked we could buy yogurts for breakfast and store them outside to chill overnight!), and no housework other than sweeping the floor and washing a few plastic plates.
~~~~~~

Look what Noelia has made from my Oopsie Daisies patterns! What beautiful colours she chose!!

Have you made anything from Oopsie Daisies yet?
The patterns are for sale through my Etsy shop.

If you are in Australia please have a look at Fiona's new online shop - Mothers Cupboard. She has a special on charm squares at the moment (but you'd better be quick), and there is much more eye candy to be tempted by, so go have a look today.

For now I'm going to open a tin of veggie soup and butter a grainy roll to warm me up! Then I have some sketching to do....designs, they just come to me at the silliest times!

Hugs
Jenny

Oh Jenny, it is like you are camping with a few amenities which you normally wouldn't have at a camp-site. I think you may be well and truly sick of it by the time it is up.
Keep smiling.....lol and at least you won't have much housework to do.

What a lot of work, what a lot of memories, what a lot of inspiration it sounds like. As we head into our hottest time of the year you are heading into your coldest. So, I am sending you a little California Sunshine to brighten you day and warm your heart.

How true, designs come at the silliest times sometime, I dream about something, or wake in the middle of the night with an idea. Isn´t that funny.
Hope everything goes well with your big move across the country.

Sending you a big warm cuddle. xxx I remember when we moved into our house 28 years ago, everything we owned fitted in the back of a small car.... now I think it would take 2 or 3 lorries to shift it all now.
Just think of the next 2 weeks as a "camping" holiday. lol :) :) xxx

If you're about to move house soon and are thinking about getting a dumpster in ask the company what they do with the junk.

Your house is looking pretty bare! I really love the OOpsie Daisies patterns - I must buy them!

Oh my Jenny, things are looking a little sparse, except the bathroom LOL. Rest up a bit, you will have a lot of unpacking in a couple of weeks.

Your bathroom and empty house brings back such vivid memories. In the first 16 years I was married I moved 8 times...very long distant moves too! Best of luck and keep on sketching those amazing ideas.

Won't be long and you will all be settled in your new home.....

Oh I remember the house looking like that before we moved. And living with just a few of the essentials. It will make settling into your new home that much sweeter when the time comes! :0)

I imagine it feels very strange to be living in the house with no furniture. We've lived in the same house for 30 years, and I would dread moving at this point!

Goodness, they pack for you too? Wow. Love the rose in the bathroom, safe from the movers.

How about I send you some of our heat. No, really. My treat.

I have a feeling a lot of new designs will come out of this, Jenny. Living simply will free you up to draw more, yay!

Love what Noelia did with the Oopsie-Daisies!

Changes... What an exciting time. 8-)
We spent 2 weeks "homeless" when we moved... It was an interesting, yet relaxing experience... for me anyway, not hubby so much... 8-)
Enjoy this break in your "norm" for what it is Jenny. Your life will be back to normal in no time at all... 8-)
Take care...
