What did I make today? (and what arrived in the mail!?)

I am having SOOOOOO much fun with a sewing room of my own, and I intend to use it 24/7 until I have to pack it up on June 21st to be boxed and carted clear across the country! For the three weeks after that it will be all hand stitching so I must also take time to prepare about 20+ blocks to stitch and applique while I'm without my sewing machine.
(For those of you who asked, we are moving to Charters Towers. It's about 130 klms inland from Townsville)

Today I finished one of my new " Country Roses" blocks and decided to use it in a travel bag.

The bag is just 10" x 13" and it has a pull cord closure at the top. It's the perfect size for shoes, brushes and hair care products, or perhaps a pair of pj's and fresh underwear for an overnight stay away!
I can think of plenty of uses for any woman or young girl. :-)

It's lined with wadding and the same fabric I used in the heart applique on the front, and has a nice wide base so it can stand. Do you like it?

The mail man came bearing gifts today as well!!

Vickie recently made some really cute aprons for ladies (and a gent!) from her work. They were participating in Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and Vickie found some fabric that she thought would be just right for the occasion so she made aprons. I went ga-ga over what she'd made so she bought me some of the fabric!!
I can't wait to make my own morning tea apron, now! Thank you Vickie, you're a real mate!

Another little parcel came too, this time it was a charm pack, SNIPPETS from American Jane - this is the first time I've ever bought a charm pack! I love ALL the fabrics in the pack but would love to buy metres of about 8 of them. This will be part of a little lap quilt. :-)

I have been playing around with my green Shabby Roses Christmas block, and decided to make a wallhanging for the coming Christmas. I'll finish it tomorrow - I just can't decide what fabric to use for the backing!

A parcel arrived yesterday too...this was from Peg and is her choice of goodies in Maree's Paper Bag Swap. I'm going to have lots of fun making something for her! There were Lindt chocolates in the parcel too...but Blossom and I were working hard and needed some energy...(well, that's our story and we're sticking to it!) Thanks Peg - we love Lindt!

And what was Blossom busy doing?
Making cards!
These are a few of them, but she is busy making many more and if her fervour continues we may have cards for every event in the coming year!

Now I need to down tools and spend some time with hubby. He thinks he may be a sewing widower. He's not...I can sit with him AND stitch at the same time. ;-)

Hugs
Jenny

Hi Jenny, I am sitting on a computer at the Charters Towers Tourist Park and I got a surprise to read on this post that it's where you are going to move to!!! The lady here....Maxine here is just lovely and does craft when she gets the time, so I hope you get a chance to meet her when you move here. Why are you moving to Charters Towers? I'm thinking it may be due to your husbands work..?
Haven't had a chance to look around yet..only got here yesterday.
Hugs..Judith
