A visitor, and some NEW Shabby designs!!

The first morning we arrived here in the house at Charters Towers I was startled by a loud BANG at the kitchen door. When the door again reverberated with another THUD I ran to wake my husband to come see what was on the other side of the door causing all this ruckus.

He carefully peeked out, and on the other side was a possum...it was knocking at the door to get my attention! Hubby sent him away and we did not hear from him again, until last night. He came knocking loudly again! This time hubby was in the kitchen and as he opened the door I heard him say, "Hello, it's you again"...and our possum friend sat atop the carport right next to the back door as though waiting to be asked inside. Well, we'd like to make friends with the locals, but...no.

However, we did cut up some fruit and all took turns handing it to him while he timidly sat and ate very politely. This is Blossom with our new friend, he's finished the fruit and is now eating one of the cupcakes I'd made for dessert. I guess we'll be seeing him quite a bit now. ;-)

~~~ NEW designs! ~~~
I was busy while my husband drove 7,000 klm!
I kept my fingers occupied stitching a number of blocks from other designer's BOMs, but I also stitched some new designs of my own...want to see them??
... Shabby Roses FAMILY ...
...and Shabby Cup of Roses ...
Both pattern are available as PDF downloads from my Etsy Shop today.
NOTE: These designs are NOT part of the Shabby Roses BOM quilt. :-)
I hope you like them!
Hugs
Jenny
Hi Jenny,
are you sure you want to feed the little critter? You know that you won´t get rid of him if you do!
Your new designs are very nice, are they part of your shabby roses quilt?
Have a nice sunday
Jenny,
I'm running a give-away drawing for an Hawaiian pin cushion on my blog; wanted to let you know if you are interested in trying to win it. Entries until Friday when I will draw one lucky winner. I will post overseas. Good luck! *yes, if anyone commenting here would like a shot at winning it, you too can join in.
Love your shabby stuff, girl!
Hmm, I'm not so sure I'd be willing to feed the local wild life. Your new shabby blocks look beautiful.
Hi there Jenny!
I LOVE your new designs - they are gorgeous! The variegated thread really adds something special too... and as always, your choice of fabrics and colours are stunning. :-) I love the teacup... I am currently painting a tea-cup canvas, and have been admiring mum and dad's collection recently too... so I've got teacups on the brain!!
Your new visitor is a bold little chap eh? Geesh aren't possums noisy? I thought The Incredible Hulk had landed on our roof when we first moved to Australia! They are as loud as humans aren't they?!! (Although techinically speaking, the Hulk isn't human... but I digress!)
Hugs sweetie!
EEEeeek! I was kind of freaking out when I read your post about possums. Your possums are quite different from the opossums in the United States. I don't know of anyone in the US who like opossums. You usually don't see them in the city, unless they are sick and disoriented, or someone has run over one with a car. I know they run around during the night, so another reason to not see them, I guess.
Our opossums look a little different than possums, and when I saw the difference, I chilled out a little bit.
I don't however, think I would like one as a visitor, expecially pounding on my door in the middle of the night!
Your shabby blocks are adorable.
Have a great week!
Michelle
Beautiful blocks. I would love to learn to do that. I think I don't have the patience at this time in my life. Perhaps later, when the kids move on, I'll slow down enough to concentrate on such beauty. Your possum friend is interesting. I love that pic of him looking in at you. Crazy.
I have a feeling that the previous occupants of your new home fed this little guy and he just realized that someone is home. I wouldn't be so happy at be woken in the middle of the night though LOL.
Your new designs are very sweet.
Can't tell you how this story reminded me of "our possum. I have no idea how he even got into the house. The TV was on in the Family Room and after my bath I found him under the video/book case watching. I calmly got Ron (quite a feat not to scream!), who gently nudged him into a bucket w/lid and toted him our into the country. He, however, did not return. Have a grand day! Cathy
I am thinking the previous people who lived in your house must have fed that possum and he just doesnt know new people are living there now. We have possums too but they dont bang on our door but they do run around up in the trees. I love nature :) I love your new Shabby Roses patterns...just delightful and so pretty.
Hey if you ever drive to Longreach keep an eye out for Muttaburra, that's where I'm from! My cousins did boarding school in Charters Towers, we moved before I started school. I still have rellies there. The hospital in Muttaburra has been turned into a Museum, mum once worked there and dad drove trucks.
Love your possum, and yes he/she will be very demanding.
Love your blocks!
