Waving on the way....day 4 of the 10 day trip.

Hi everyone!

I have snatched a few minutes at my daughter's place to use her internet and give you all a quick update on where we are. :-)

We had 3 extremely long days of driving, 3000 klms, and arrived here to collect the kids last night. What a welcome, what muscles my children have! Their embraces were long and hard, tears and sentences spilling over every bit of the first hour. It was WONDERFUL to be reunited at last!

Today is our rest day, but in another 12 hours we'll be off again, with another 4,000 klms ahead of us before we reach our destination.

Hubby and I had the most beautiful meal on Friday night as Eucla, quite a surprise in that very remote outback town - not actually a town either, it is just a motel/camping ground/petrol station near the WA/SA border. After so many things happening this year it was *the* highlight for my hubby and I - it felt like a date, and the meal was superb. :-)

I have been busy stitching as he drives, and we are almost through a very long audio book - just in time for the kids to choose their own titles to listen to for the rest of the trip.

Yesterday we saw the biggest road-kill ever! It was a camel! For those who are not Australian, did you know that we export camels to Arabia? Camels are rampant through the centre of the country, plague proportions. I wanted to see them running in the distance as we drove along, but did not expect such a 'close encounter'.

Thank you for your prayers and good wishes, things are going very well!!

Be back soon.
Hugs
Jenny

PS: Check out Allie's blog! She has released the first of her free Portholes blocks!!

That certainly would have been a big road kill. My Brother used to export camels to Saudia Arabia.

3000Klms and other 4000klms ahead of you to drive...I can't hardly imagine such a long trip. Italy is a little stamp, a spot on a white page...in just 3 hours I can reach Rome...
I'm very happy you are with your children again! I can feel your happiness!
Have a nice trip.
God bless you all!

So glad you made a quick post to let us know what's happening. It's a daunting task moving so far away. I'm used to long road trips, as I live in the middle of no where, as you'll find out!
Wow, a camel!! Up near Mt. Isa you get cattle that are hit by trucks and you'll see alot of emus. in Mount Morgan today, a horse was killed and 4 people put in hospital. But a camel?! Wow! Never would have thought...
Have fun on the next 4000kms! Once you hit Mackay, it's not as boring any more (as you'll fins out) because everthing starts to become so beautiful!
Many thoughts for a safe journey! Hope you see some bottle trees!
Hugs, Amanda.

JENNY!!!!!!!! I was so hoping you could post on the way - wowzers girl, that's a LOT of driving!!! So glad you had a nice stop with hubby, and ecstatic that you're reunited with the kids!!!

I'm going to have to tell my Texas cousins about your road-kill camel - apparently not everything is bigger in Texas, lol! I had no idea you had camels in Australia. I feel a geography unit-study coming on.

It is so good to hear from you, dear one! Prayers are with you on your way!

Have been following your blog and was glad to get a note from you. I guess the old saying is true--You are never to old to learn--am referring to the camels. I Had no idea.

Also had to go find a web site to figure out how many miles were in a km!!! Something else new! You sure did drive a few km a day. My behind would be so sore!!!! Take Care and please be safe!!
