A secret, a challenge, and a nostalgic BOM with a giveaway...

Dorothy Baker is a very talented Canadian quilter who is starting a free BOM in the very near future - and it's gorgeous!!
"Sweet Nostalgia" is its name and if the sneak peek from the BOM button is any indication I will relish doing these blocks! I've added the button to my sidebar in case you'd like to make it too.
And did I mention she has a lovely giveaway at the moment? Go and visit her and try your luck. :-)

Now, the new Challenge for September!!
How about making a sewing mat to sit under your newly dressed machine?
Narelle just made one from a design she got from Tazzie Quilts, and Cheryl has one one in her Sewing Companions pack...or perhaps you can create your own unique mat?

I am going to make one because I NEED it! I am always losing my scissors or my un-picker, so having them in little pockets right in front of my machine will be wonderful.

Again, there will be a giveaway, but I won't tell you what it is just yet. You have until September 30th to make your machine mat. Let me know when you do and I'll add your name to the draw for a special giveaway.

It's Fathers Day here in Australia today so I'd best get back to my darling husband!
Hugs and blessings,
Jenny

PS: There's something in the air right now, blowing through the Gum Trees....you'd better keep checking back with me because I think it's big. I love secrets. :-)

I had a month of "couldn't be bothereds" in August (the year has been a little trying) only to do a turn around and just had to make a sewing machine cover on Sept 2. There were just too many wonderful covers that got the inspiration happening :0). That said, I think I'd better go into this challenge just because I'd already decided to make a mat anyway.

Well, I hadn't thought about a mat, but it is a logical sequential thing to follow a cover, so my mind has started on another journey of creativity - will have to see what eventuates this time.

Is this the right place to leave this comment? I have just finished my Sewing mat - the photo is on my blog, just a very basic one - but I have become inspired and am taking my time to make the one I really want :) (that one won't be finished in time for this challenge though.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks so much for this challenge - just what I needed, both in terms of the project (a wanted-to-do-for-ages one) and also an opp to get the ol' machine out and do some sewing :)
The pics are on my blog here: http://stitchuponastar.blogspot.com/2009/09/sewing-mat-challenge.html
Thanks again!!!! Lauren
