A cooking course, and a new challenge for June!

It's May 31st - another month has passed and as I look back over these last 4 weeks I wonder at how I could possibly have fit in so many things. Life really rushed past doesn't it? One of the things that dissapoints me about my obsessive sewing habit is the way my love of cooking wholefoods has sort of slipped by the wayside with each month and year that passes.
Time to get back on track.
I am very excited because I decided to sign up for an online cooking course that begins tomorrow!  Jenny at The Nourished Kitchen will be holding online classes over 12 weeks - How to CookReal Food : An online cooking class

This is exactly MY kind of food, but I need to learn by seeing, because reading about this in books just doesn't do it for me. Jenny will have video lessons and print outs, so I am pretty sure this will be great for my kind of learning. I think sign ups close today, so if you are interested you'll have to be quick. I know it's going to cost $$'s initially but in the long run it will be worth its weight in gold for my family and our health.

I've decided against doing a hexie challenge in June. Why?
This is why...
Mr Elefantz has grown out of his jeans. Now as soon as they landed on my sewing room floor I had an idea!
Nearly everyone has an old pair of jeans somewhere in the house, and if you don't they can be bought at an op-shop for a couple of dollars.
My June Challenge is 'what can you make out of a pair of jeans!?'
I may even try and make as many things as possible out of ONE pair of jeans - what do you think? Want to join in?
Leave a comment on this post to let me know if you'll take up the challenge! I'll put a list of links to participating blogs so we can all have a look through June and see what everyone has made. :-)
(I might even offer a prize for one lucky participant....)
~~~~~
Don't forget, the ~ A Christmas Story ~giveaway closes tomorrow night! Look HERE for details if you haven't entered yet.
Hugs
Jenny
On the other hand, I'm glad I have a passion for sewing because when it comes to cooking, I just don't have the brain for it! I'll bet you have alot of takers for a jean challenge! Sounds like it could be a real challenge. ~karen
Well I'm signing up for this challenge because I had a jeans project in mind and it's almost finished. :o) I'll be sharing it on my blog very soon.
funny you should say that!!! I am working on 6 denim rag quilts for my boyfriends sons and son-in-laws for christmas. I think i have gone thru about 30 pair of jeans so far. Amazingly if you ask people they will just give you their old jeans with relief that they aren't throwing them out!
Another denim project i have in the works and im collecting strips for is a braided rug... but hmmm... a project with just ONE pair of jeans... im going to have to think about that.
I'll be in the jeans challenge! I lost some weight last year and I have saved a few pairs of my old jeans to cut up, just hadn't decided what to do with them yet, so this will be great to get me going!
That cooking class sounds awesome!! I'd much rather hire someone to cook for me, but that won't happen in this lifetime, lol.
Your June challenge sounds fun - I love making purses from jeans. Especially toddler size. My favorite one, I used a chain belt for a handle. I don't have any spare jeans laying around or I'd join your challenge!
I'll take up your challenge, Jenny. What a great idea! Good grief, I have oodles of jeans, intending to make a quilt (ha), so it will be fun to dig in and come up with something worthwhile. Thanks for thinking of this (especially instead of hexies!)
I must have known something... I put 2 pairs of jeans aside only last week (they don't fit anymore -sigh!) and I wanted to make something with them... I am up for the challenge then!
Hi Jenny,
I hopped over to the "good eating" blog and you know what I can actually smell the bread and soup now! Boy, am I hungry! (Sunday morning here) Yes, count me in as I also have a large stack of jeans that need to be worked on! So many have accumulated and at first they wanted to be a quilt...but no, thinking they should be bags...maybe both, eh!
Hi Jenny, I don't know if I am eligible to enter as I made my Denim Picnic Rug back in March and it is actually made out of more then one pair of jeans.
But this is my link to my blog post.
