Off again, off again, hoppity hop...

This weekend Mr E and I are doing a 'Far Ride'. This is where a group of motorbike riders from all over the place ride to a predetermined destination and meet up - but it has to be a 1000 klm round trip in 24 hours.
We ride off at 5am tomorrow from Charters Towers (in North Queensland) to meet many other riders at Eungella, in central Queensland between 11.30-12 for lunch.
At 1 o'clock we all leave and return to our starting point - home! Hopefully we won't have too much riding on country roads in the dark, but some of the time it will be inevitable.
As those who ride or pillion on bikes know, helmet hair is a problem. When I've been on the bike for 5 or 6 hours at a time it's even worse than usual. Now that my hair is growing long again, the flat pancake look on my head has gotten ugly, and I really needed an idea to help me feel 'nice' when we meet strangers after a ride. Vanity...oh yes, indeedy. ;-)
At the supermarket checkout yesterday they were selling Canteen Bandanas. National Bandana Day is October 28th, and the sale of the bandanas raises funds for young people living with cancer.
 It's a fantastic charity, so if you want to support them, buy a bandana for yourself or a friend (or both!).
I bought a pink one and a red one...
Of course, the bandana made me think about a few Amy Butler fat 1/4's I had stashed away, so I decided to make myself a rather nice one for special occasions. Actually, with the heat arriving so fierce up here in the tropics, I think I'll be wearing bandanas a lot to keep hair off my neck and face...
I sewed some pink cotton twill tape along the front for easier tying at the back.

 ~~~~~
The magazine was emailed out yesterday, and with each passing month the hiccups lessen.
For those who are not subscribers, I will add it to my Etsy Shop next week for single purchase.
~~~~~
Have a wonderful weekend, and let's meet back here next week, ok?

Hugs
Jenny

The only way I found, after years and years of helmet hair, was to keep it short, short and spikey, then all you do is run your fingers through your hair...voila! Linda

Hey Jenny,
Enjoy your ride. It reminds me of my first husband and I taking trips on his Harley so many years ago.

Funnily enough, I bought the same pink bandanna with the same idea in mind now that I am once again enjoying the pleasure (not) of helmet hair. Enjoy your ride. We are meeting motorcycling friends in Goondiwindi this weekend, but with the lousy weather predicted piked and took the car. I love your gifts from Vicki.

Have a nice ride - I was going to suggest a bandana to cover your hair :-) Our bike is now in winter storage so no more trips until spring.

I hope you have a great time on your long ride! I downloaded my newest magazine, but haven't had time to read it yet. I'm off work all next week and I plan to enjoy all the sweetness then! I def. need to purchase the two magazines I don't have already, because I want the block of the month designs. :o)
