More of 'other people's ideas'...

This is the third or fourth blog post I've done this year sharing other people's wonderful ideas! I think I'll make it a regular monthly thing, ok?

Do you enjoy discovering ideas that are clever, beautiful, or unusual, on someone's blog? I don't often have time to browse blogs, but occasionally, on a Sunday night when the family are fed, watered, and otherwise occupied,  I brew myself a very large cuppa, snatch a good stack of raisin & oatmeal biscuits, and settle in for an hour or so of 'preparing to be inspired'!

Let's see what caught my eye recently, shall we?

Tutorials...

So September has a wonderful tute to make an embroidered pendant, but her photos are copyright, so you'll have to go visit her blog HERE for a look-see. It's worth it!

Kerri at Lovely Little Handmades made a whole bunch of gorgeous pillowcases, and takes us through a very simple step by step photo tute HERE...

(These would be great for using up leftover fabric remnants from finished projects!)

Something totally different - a classy purse made from a book cover! This is definitely on my to-do list one day. You'll find the tutorial HERE at Scribbit~ Motherhood in Alaska...

I regularly receive emails asking me to do some stitchery tutorials here on my blog, but in all honesty there are some great ones already out there. Fellow Aussie, Bronwyn Hayes, has a series 'ready-set-sew' on her blog, and if you keep following along you'll learn more and more stitches. 

Some of the stitches Bronwyn has shown so far are - blanket stitch applique, lazy daisy and satin stitch. You can follow the tutorials HERE...

Penny from sewtakeahike shares a super easy tutorial for making an easy continuous prairie point edging HERE...

Suzanne at Just Another Hang Up shares a tutorial for this totally scrumptious ruffled pillow HERE on her blog. It's made with muslin too...so lovely and natural.

 
Simple Living...

Rhonda Hetzel is pretty much my heroine when it comes to living simply and writing simply about it! Her blog holds a wealth of experience and advice if you're wanting to cast off the 'over-consumer' cloak. She also wrote a brilliant book which I read cover to cover in a few days and am starting over with again.

Just because...no other reason...it's simply a beautifully written and photographed blog about a family living simply. Visit Tania at Ivy Nest HERE. It's the blog where I just sit, relax and remember to breathe. I find it quite soothing and at times comforting.

The very talented Lori Holt is having a Row Along on her blog, and as I have a fat quarter bundle of her fabrics sitting on my fabric shelf I think I know what I'll be using! 

There are three rows so far, and Lori gives step by step photos if you're a newbie to quilt blocks.

Maree Watt of Ollie & May Designs has just released her very first BOM! It's so pretty, and perfect for those of you who want a long term project with applique. She's used gorgeous "Rouennieres" fabric by French General to make her quilt - perfect choice as Maree's quilt is called "Paris Garden"!

Embroidery...

Do you remember handkerchiefs with personal monograms? My grandfather had one that he treasured.
