Blossom and the mountain...

With Blossom turning 20 later this month (can you believe that?) I'm more conscious than ever for the need to make special time 'just for us' before she's off into the big wide world and living a life without mum and dad.
Having her still living at home with us is precious indeed, but she will spread her wings sooner rather than later, and before we know it she'll be setting up her very own home and 'spur of the moment trips up the mountain' decided over an early morning coffee won't come so easily. So our theory is to make the most of them right now!

Yesterday she had a day off work, and I needed a break from my office and laptop, so away we went.
A relaxing 30 minute drive from home, then a winding cruise around and up the mountain till we turn right towards the Tea Rooms at Hervey's Range...

After the massive amount of rain the cyclone brought last month the pond has filled again and water lilies have sprung through in abundance...

The Tea Rooms are *old*, adding to the peaceful charm which causes us to return time and again...

We sit in the same room inside the old homestead each time we visit. Breakfast is good country fare, as are the views through the window...

We always take writing pads, pencils, magazines, stitching, and 'stuff' to inspire us for a few hours after breakfast, but these days together are especially good for us because we usually cannot get any phone reception on the mountain so we're never interrupted or distracted...we just chat about life, God, hopes and dreams, all the while drinking coffee and pots of tea and sampling simply made sweeties...

(I discovered this pattern for a pillow for Princess Sophie while ripping pages out of old magazines)

The Caramel Cream Tart was delicious with our Earl Grey tea...

I'd taken the Gratitude Bag with me for a photo shoot...

...but after the pictures were taken we decided to have another photo shoot with Miss Blossom as the star this time. Honestly, we laughed so hard I had trouble keeping the camera steady!

Um, audition for a horror movie, maybe???

When 2 o'clock ticked over we thought we'd best pack up and head back down the mountain to home.
Blossom's pencil gave us an idea for the rest of the day...

There's always a wistful sigh as we leave...

hugs

Oh Jenny what a lovely bolt hole. The water lillies look like little fairies in their best frocks dancing on the waters surface. Thanks for sharing your special moments with Blossom. xx

Thank you for sharing your special day Jenny with your very pretty Blossom, gorgeous photos, yes the years pass so quickly so its a blessing to have these times together, the tea house and trip there look lovely such a good feel place, can see why you would want to return as often as you can, sort of for a top up, refuel, and the yummy sweets would help. A great spot for your photo shoot too.

A lovely daughter, a lovely day what more could anyone want? This little post has given me some ideas for my weekly quilting group. A lovely nearby park and exhibit farm is in the works for us for a retreat but why wait for that? I have some calls to make. Thank you dear.

Now let me think.......from whom could Miss B possibly have inherited her zany outlook? Her mum......? No, surely not..........!

So glad you had such a fun day together. My daughter (23) and SIL were home for a week recently and it was so wonderful to just put off the dull, normal stuff and do fun things together. Blossom is a beautiful girl and I know you are so proud of her. Enjoy.

I was just reading one of your old blogs and she had just turned 15 and now literally overnight she is 20. Bet that feels that way for you too. One of my sons has just turned 16 and I can still see him rolling around the house in his walker - gee time flies with kids.
