Mending - Ecclesiastes 3:7...

I'm often asked "How do you keep your stitches so tiny and neat?", and my answer is quite simple.
I don't mind unpicking and re-stitching if the result before me is not as pleasing as I'd like it to be.

Messy sewing usually comes about because of rushing from one project to the next and not taking time and delight in one lovely piece of handwork at a time, but daydreaming or dwelling too deeply on life's concerns may also be a culprit.

My mind sometimes wanders when I have needle and thread employed in the beauty of bringing a plain piece of linen to life with colour and design, then when my thoughts pass and my eyes focus on the stitches before me it's obvious this lapse of attentiveness will now result in some unpicking and re-sewing.

And isn't that like life?

We can get so caught up in the rush that we forget to really 'look' at what and who is in front of us.
We let the worries and concerns of life rob our peace of mind and the result when we finally stop to examine our lives is a mess of neglect.
We spend so much time yearning and day dreaming about what we want that we miss enjoying and tending what we already have.
We dwell on wrongs others have done and find that an ugly knot has formed on the tapestry of our life and the picture we're creating lacks the beauty we'd hoped for.

Is there anything in your life right now that needs unpicking?
Take the time to do it.

Re-stitching and mending with your whole heart reaps a blessed reward.
I know this because it's been one of my most valuable life lessons.

Thank you, Jenny. A timely reminder for me as I am hanging on to some issues that I really need to let go and forgive. And I know I should, but it is hard. God is putting all this reminders in my way lately - He is being very insistent! And you have made me think that I don't want my life to be ugly and messy - thank you. What a blessing you are.

You have hit the nail on the head. Bitterness and resentment are not good things to hang on to as they only create illness in our emotional and physical bodies. Mindfulness is also a Buddhist teaching which encourages us to focus entirely on whatever we are doing at the time even if it is just cleaning our teeth. What you said about unpicking your stitches if they sd not meet your satisfaction is exactly what I do. Also, my eyes are not as good as they used to be so I find my stitches are getting a bit larger now but at least they are even. As someone once said "don't sweat the small stuff" and "keep it simple sweetie". Wise words . Thanks for your lovely thoughts today.

Good word. Though sometimes painful and painstaking so worth it.

The habit I'm trying to break is wishing that I were back in the years with Paul. It's a hard habit to stop, but I know that the Lord wants me to live in the here and now, and do what good I can where and when I am at this point. Good reminder that not focusing on things of the Lord today may cause a wandering line in my life.

Jenny, the Lord has blessed you. I gain understanding every time I read a Sunday post. It is wonderful that you have found a way to spread the Lords words and teachings. Thank you for sharing.

I have not been able to keep up with the tutorial project. Hopefully, in the near future I will try again. Life sometimes does get in the way. Nothing bad, just various tasks that need to take precedence. Thank you for sharing your tutorial; you did a fabulous job. Have a wonderful day!
