He delights in you ~ Psalm 18:19b...

Do you forget that sometimes?
He DELIGHTS in you.
He delights in me.
So He saved us.

There was nothing I could do to save myself. There is nothing you can do to save yourself.
But HE did something to save both of us because He DELIGHTS in us.

Gosh, that's like being wrapped in a well-worn quilt, pieced with every wonderful memory, every hug and word of encouragement, every stitch of heartfelt love.

Yep, the truth of this verse is an embrace that defies description because the depth of love displayed through it cannot be measured in my finite human understanding.

As I sat by candlelight in the early hours of yesterday morning Psalm 19 washed over and through me until I was gasping at the greatness of His love, His delight, His protection and His light - for simple sinful little me.

"I love you, Lord.
You are my strength.
The Lord is my rock.
I can run to Him for safety.
He is my shield and my saving strength, my defender."
(v 1-2)

"In my trouble I called to the Lord.
I cried out to my God for help.
From His temple He heard my voice;
my call for help reached His ears."
(v 6)

"The Lord reached down from above and took me;
He pulled me from deep water."
(v 16)

""He took me to a safe place.
Because He delights in me, He saved me."
(v 19)

"Lord, you give light to my lamp.
My God brightens the darkness around me."
(v 28)

"Who is God? Only the Lord.
Who is the Rock? Only our God."
(v 31)

"You protect me with Your saving shield.
You support me with Your right hand.
You have stooped to make me great.
You give me a better way to live..."
(v 35-36)

There are days when my soul thirsts for a memory jolt like this, a heavenly reminder of who my God truly is and what I mean to Him.

If you're having one of those days or seasons in life, light your candle, soak in the Word, be embraced by the One who really, truly, honestly and completely DELIGHTS in you.

be blessed,

Me ha gustado mucho tu frase: "Gosh, that's like being wrapped in a well-worn quilt, pieced with every wonderful memory, every hug and word of encouragement, every stitch of heartfelt love. ". Creo que hay mucha paz y mucho amor en esa forma de describir un sentimiento. Gracias por compartir tus pensamientos. Buen dia para tí y para tu familia. Bless you. Besos.

This devotional is such a blessing. We are having to make some difficult decisions about my Mom and her long term care. She is mid-stage alzheimer patient. It is such an evil diseaae. I have to remember who is in control and is my strength. God is our strong tower.

Jenny, I know I have already commented this morning, but I had to share with you another Psalms. I receive a daily scripture in an email and this morning it was Psalms 16:11. Well after reading it I picked up my The Inspirational Study Bible and read Psalms 16; it also gave me goosebumples and filled my heart with such joy! Thank you again for sharing and inspiring us! Amen. There is no greater love, and no reason why He should love me, but He does, and that is enough for me.

Brenda, the Lord gave me Psalm 16 on Thursday morning as His message to Mr E (it was his birthday and I had given him a new bible so asked the Lord for a verse to write inside the cover - He gave me this Psalm!)...and I too got goosebumps. xx
