Mr E and I have adopted a puppy.
We've named her Merri because we wanted her to have a happy and joyful name.
Merri is 8 weeks old and a Labrador Retriever / Staffordshire cross.
Along with her 5 siblings she was dumped at around 4 weeks old and has been fostered by carers from Angel Paws until we took her into our family on Monday.
She is gentle, affectionate, and likes to sit on our feet.
I've remembered what it was like getting up to each of my seven babies all those years ago.
Fortunately my sleep deprivation for her toilet trips should only last a few more weeks. And truly, I don't mind. I'm just tired.
Isn't she a sweetheart?
She has her very own room too!
Plus toys and a big bear to cuddle as she sleeps on her new quilt.
Bob the dog has now left our home to go live with his mama, Blossom, who has missed her little fellow. Blossom got Bob for her 14th birthday and she is 21 now so it's a blessing for both of them to be permanently together again.
Princess Sophie, on the other hand, gave Merri a sniff and has refused to acknowledge her since, making her throne our bed where Merri can clearly see her 'reigning'.
I'm praying Sophie's heart softens soon as Merri is quite taken with her feline sister.
We've had 3 toilet 'accidents' in 24 hours, which I think is pretty good, and my daughter Aisha is helping with newbie puppy owner advice as she has two beautiful dogs of her own and has been through it all.
Puppy pre-school starts in 4 weeks so we'll have more skills to learn there, but in the meantime we're actually doing okay - better than I imagined.
I even got a little stitching done while she slept for a few hours yesterday afternoon...
The floral print was a gift from Kristyne at Pretty By Hand and I teamed it with pink gingham and Cosmo threads to create another of my bird designs.
I'll house the bird inside a quilt block made from the pretty floral fabric when I catch up on my sleep.
From there, no idea what it will become.
I hear a puppy crying, better go...
