A fox for the boy-child...

Yesterday I showed you Blossom's baby bump, so today I'll show you Aisha's baby bump!
I took this pic last month when Aisha, her hubby and two daughters were up here on holiday...

No surprises that I'm making quilts for my two grandbabies due this year, right?
As Aisha's little boy-child is due mid-April I've started on his quilt first, and after discussing colour choice for the nursery we decided to use these woodland themed prints I found at my local Spotlight store...

I'm adding a cute applique fox to the mix as well.

The free template for the fox came from over HERE at  Positively Splendid...

Cute, don't you agree?

I'll blanket stitch the applique with chocolate brown thread today, and piece the quilt top in a split 9-patch layout later in the week.

Split 9-patch is a really simple patchwork design and perfect for those who are new to quilting!
I shared a tutorial HERE a few years ago using a charm square pack if you'd like to give it a try.
My table runner only took one morning to piece, quilt and bind...

What are you making at the moment?

hugs

Aisha and her husband look very happy and I wish them a healthy and happy baby. I love the fabrics you chose, it will look great. I'm making a quilt (Queen size) for my niece and the quilt is driving me to an early grave, still she is worth it. Take care, Guida.

Aisha looks beautiful glowing, nothing like a holiday and catchup with Mum and family, special for Blossom too. The quilt will be lovely, will have to check out your tutorial and get adventurous, your table runner looks gorgeous. I have been making some doll wraps/pouches/cocoons, using same ideas I have made for babies in the past and using up some remnants of polo fleece and want to make for a baby gift too, thought the doll ones would be stepping stone, I also appliqued rabbits and flowers onto the plain ones. I know of a little girl age 7 who loves her baby dolls and accessories whereas my own Granddaughter not as much, she loved her new Barbie doll, birthday present, with long hair to play with. 14 years ago I embroidered a wool blanket for pram/bassinet for expected baby in extended family and also made one for their daughter for her dolls bed/pram, she was very much into her baby dolls, and she loved having similar to her baby brother for her dolls. I enjoyed the wool blanket embroidery but Sydney not a lot of call for them and my own daughter unable to use wool, when we lived in Melbourne it was very popular at that time, oh did you ever visit the craft markets in Melbourne, I loved them so much inspiration and lovely craft work, from memory that is where I first saw what could be done with polo fleece for babies and toddlers. I also have some handtowels ready to put tops on, for gifts and finishing off a couple more circle skirts for my granddaughter. I better get sewing. Looking forward to see your baby quilt Jenny lovely fabrics you have chosen, have a wonderful day. Judithann :-)

Love the fox quilt. Hope Aisha is dong well. A couple more weeks until we find out if our granddaughter will have a boy or girl. She and I are secretly hoping for a girl. She already has a 2.5-year-old son. But either way, as long as she/he is healthy we will all be fine.

Very very cute Fox quilt Jenny. Aisha is looking really well and has a definite pop-out tummy. I wonder what Elizabeth will have, a wee girl or boy?? I can so see her with a wee girl but then what does it matter. As long as both of the girls babies are happy and healthy all is good with the world. xx

As we say in Texas, that husband is one tall drink of water! I love your fox! That's adorable. This will be the cutest baby quilt. What fun you will have making it and thinking about the baby to come. Love in every stitch, and he's not even here yet!

Good Morning Jenny! She is beautiful! They make a wonderful happy couple. You and Mr. E have got to be just grinning from ear to ear with pride for the family and getting to be Grandparents again! Your fox applique is adorable and will make a wonderful addition to the baby quilt. I am making quilts for Project Linus and for my Niece who is expecting. I am also cutting out a Double Wedding Ring queen sized quilt pattern and will be making it for a very dear friend. It seems like there are always several projects going on at the same time around here. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic creative day!
