My sons seem less keen, for now. Maybe I should sew some kites instead of quilts, that is how my brother learned to sew :-). Over the past year I have learned to use the overlock sewing machine (serger). It was a rocky start, but now I love it. It makes sewing knit fabrics so much easier! And a little over a year ago I learned free motion quilting on the machine. This year I learned how to take cuttings from dahlias! And I'm learning to cook and bake (and eat!) with more plant proteins, more fibre and less sugar. In clarinet class I'm practicing speed! It's going well, I'm starting to feel like a "real" clarinetist, after 8 years :-). I'm having fun practicing the adagio from Mozart's clarinet concerto, just for me. I'm passing my music on to my kids as well, and organising extra rehearsals for the third clarinets in our orchestra, which is a fun way of combining sharing and learning!Sara en Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15933081635835722346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5738183327129723042.post-33820735038526476792019-09-23T07:46:46.528+10:002019-09-23T07:46:46.528+10:00This sounds like a delightful book. We learned to cut glass the size and shape needed for various designs so if you're going to do that too, a box of Band Aids might be useful but then maybe you're not as klutzy as I turned out to be. My aunt was pretty grim as she taught me all her ideas of housekeeping, but my own nature has always been to laugh while working. I have to admit I never chased chickens with the lawn mower, though! =) It made me smile because two days ago, I watched my neighbor across the street laboriously pushing and dragging his gas mower back and forth to make neat, straight rows in his lawn. I can only guess at what Jane's mowing must have left as lawn patterns!

Learning is always a joy to me, and I've been learning something about forensic science for some writing I'm doing - a scene I want, and didn't know how to make happen. I'm learning from other writers, of course! Yes, not very domestic of me, but it's what I like most, along with quilting and scriptures. Writing brings me great joy. I've taught many children the finer points, but with adults, it's usually quilting skills. I've taught both formal and informal classes in that, and passed along my knowledge wherever possible. It's how I got it - from friends, books, magazines, teachers, videos - and it's how I pass it along.

I know you will enjoy the classes. My younger sister, who was neither domestic nor artistic - took stained glass classes and made some lovely things for her home. I went with her to a shop one time and it was a wonderful array of colors and patterns - all of which I thought would make lovely quilts. =)Susan https://www.blogger.com/profile/09159163720029661287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5738183327129723042.post-59332233981494286922019-09-22T03:35:23.646+10:002019-09-22T03:35:23.646+10:00I had to look up "what is lead lighting"...I had to look up "what is lead lighting" to find out it is like stained glass windows! I would think the same skill is involved whether the glass is colored or clear. I'm looking forward to seeing what you both create! How fun to take a class together - sharing time together while creating something beautiful!!Farm Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01670652033638218941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5738183327129723042.post-72632269014775314592019-09-21T17:15:53.519+10:002019-09-21T17:15:53.519+10:00Hi Jenny,
