It's as easy as 1,2 3!
First you take a lamington...
...then you split it in half across the middle, halve it again, and spread with fresh whipped cream (I add some vanilla sugar to my cream!)...
...slice some fresh strawberries and layer across the top...
...and sandwich together for a scrumptious morning tea!

I have another friend with a birthday coming up this month, so I've been working on a present for her. I was given some lovely vintage cream ric rac a while ago and it seemed to fit this project perfectly! The ric rac has some discolouration, a slight yellowing - barely visible, but there nonetheless - signs of its age. It reminded me of the friendship I have with this particular friend. It has weathered sorrows and joys on both sides, it is coloured with the stains of time and care. I knew she would understand if I used it on her cushion. :-)
To add something else to the ric rac I zig-zagged some blue thread across it, and I also did a little machine quilting because I *still* love doing that. ;-) The embroidery is from an old copy of a quilting magazine, but it says exactly how I feel.
Ta da! The finished cushion will be on its way to her tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will be working on a new design...something different.

My first ever mail arrived yesterday, but I was too busy to stop doing and doing and doing . . . THANK YOU for my lovely beach tote! I absolutely adore it! I will take a picture and post about it soon. We are going to be "nuts" the next few days and guess what? It's pretty certain that my Chief will be traveling for two weeks (leaving this Saturday) for a mainland USA city and Australia! Lucky duck!

As for what am I working on? The correct response should probably be 'a sewing machine cover' but in fact today I'll be machine quilting a mini quilt for a relative's 50th anniversary and I'll also be writing a pattern for a scrap quilt (the class I'm teaching is on Saturday - it would help to have a pattern, don't you think?).

ReplyDeleteHave also done the split the lamington trick and frozen raspberries from the freezer of course, work ok if you space them carefully.
For some insane reason I have a tendency to buy strawberries, look at them in the fridge and end up throwing them out.
I have sewn for 2 mins on the machine and that is all I have done for a week and yes I am ashamed.
I need to keep reading to be inspired.
I need to stop reading to get to work.
