More about fussy cutting, and a free pear quilt...

Remember back HERE when I talked about fussy cutting blocks for your projects to allow the fabric to shine?
Well, I'm at it again.
Almost two years ago my buddy Wendy gifted me with a kit to make THIS Pastel Pears table topper...

Wendy bought a kit for herself as well, and I've lost count of the times we've both said, "I'm going to start that kit soon!", but soon just never eventuated. However, each month I like to make something of another designer's work, and this month I chose to get this table topper completed.
The fabrics in the kit are different to the fabrics used in the photo above - they are all mauve toned, and as I'm not a very mauve person, I chose to substitute the large floral print in the kit with a lemon fabric exactly the same that had been languishing in my stash - same fabric from the same designer (Robyn Pandolph), just a different colour base.
As I was cutting the pieces I realised the lemon floral fabric was perfect for fussy cutting!

Each rose bouquet fitted sweetly inside the applique pear shape!
There are five pears appliqued in the table topper, so I've chosen to have the rose bouquets facing in three different directions. When I finish piecing this table quilt you'll see how well that works to balance the finished appearance...
The pattern for the Pastel Pears table topper quilt is free HERE, so why not have a look through your fabric stash for some fabric that's just 'calling out' to be fussy cut and make this up yourself?

I've been rather unwell this last week which is why the blog posts haven't been as regular.
Things are looking up today after removing wheat from my diet the last few days, and avoiding the codeine I take for my migraines.
It's important to listen to your body.

It's a long weekend here in Queensland, so I think a relaxing day in the sewing room while Mr E works on 'Luigi' is the recipe for a good day off work.

It's always nice to receive feedback on a blog post, so *thank you* for taking time to comment!
I will try to reply via email unless you are a 'no reply blogger' which means you'll have to check for my reply in the comments. Of course, life is a rather hazardous activity, isn't it? So if I don't respond to your comment that's the reason why - life simply stepped in...
