A couple of weeks ago Mr E and I spent our Sunday wandering through our city's Heritage Day display.
Loving all things vintage I was truly in my element amongst the memorabilia and costumery that filled a local park.
Remember these in your kitchen growing up?
Being a military town (we have the largest army base in Australia) there were quite a few WW1 and WW2 displays...
There were rows and rows of vintage cars everywhere...
...and members of the Historical Society wandering the park dressed in ye olde finery to greet us.
The horse and cart tours through the old graveyard adjacent to the park were very popular...
....as was the wonderful Scottish bagpipe and drum entertainment.
After such a long hot and dry spring/summer/autumn it was welcome relief that the skies were overcast for the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
I'm looking forward to next year's celebrations...

Wow - I remember a lot of those things...especially the wringer/washer. We had one and eventually used to play in the two wash tubs on hot summer days!

Yes I do remember the kitchen utensils and the stitchery of the little Dutch boy and girl brought tears to my eyes as my Mum had stitched those for my PJ bag when I was little.

I love bagpipes, and I'd give a lot to have one of those old Jeeps! What a wonderful day this sounds. Thanks for sharing pictures. I do remember many things similar to the kitchen items you showed. It made me think of the match holder my grandmother had above her stove.

Jeanneke, you have not offended me at all...I think it is I who offended you. I shall remove the photo of the German war artifacts. There wasn't a lot of Australian army things there, and the jeeps all came from the US who were stationed here during WW2. Bless you so much, dear lady. xxx
