Inspired...

Yesterday whilst shopping for fresh fruit and vegetables I bought myself a splendid bouquet of pink and white roses.
Roses do not fare well in the tropical summers, but in our winter they come into their own and I make it my habit to buy a bunch every second week. Only ten dollars for ten stems - such a blessing...

Their pretty colours inspired the thread choice for my new "sleep tight owl" stitchery...

I love the softness from the pink, white and green palette these winter blooms display...

...and that reminded me of a poem I wrote in 2009 for the centre of my "Bouquet" quilt.
I thought I'd share it today as a photo which you can save to your computer or pin to your Pinterest page.

Are you inspired by colour?

  14. Yes, but rarely pinks. =) I love the owl, however, and the roses are gorgeous. That is a nice price. I usually get mine at the grocery store, too, but it's a bargain at a florist to get a dozen red roses for $30. Actually, I usually shop in the day-old flowers, as it were. I often find mini-carnations there for a very cheap price, which is about my budget. =) I have to mini red ones blooming on the back porch and I had two yellow ones out front, but they are gone until next time. I should probably flush them with epsom salts and make them be prolific. =) I like the one with the sort of ruffly petals in your bouquet.

  17. The roses are beautiful. I like pink and white roses. I have never cared for red roses though. Yellow roses are my favorite. I carried three on our wedding day and each of my bridesmaids carried one. It was quite simple. Yellow roses were my maternal grandmothers favorite also. After Jim and I moved away from my hometown whenever I sent her flowers I always made sure that there was at least one yellow rose. When flowers were delivered to her she always knew when a bouquet had come from me as there would be at least one yellow rose. It was my signal to say I love you.
Your owl looks lovely. My mother collected owls. Maybe some day I will embroider it up just to put in a prominent place so I can say a prayer thanking Abba every time I passed by for blessing me with the mother he did. I miss her so. That doesn't seem fair to say on your blog Jenny. I had her for 35 years. You only had yours for three. I'm so grateful you had your Nana.

It's always nice to receive feedback on a blog post, so *thank you* for taking time to comment!
I will try to reply via email unless you are a 'no reply blogger' which means you'll have to check for my reply in the comments. Of course, life is a rather hazardous activity, isn't it? So if I don't respond to your comment that's the reason why - life simply stepped in...
