A Christmas stitchery for you...

I know many Christians love to celebrate the birth of our Saviour on Christmas Day, and that is indeed a beautiful thing, even though He wasn't born on December 25th...but to be honest, I don't think it matters whether we know His arrival date or not.

What matters is that we know Him now, that we love Him today, that we need Him every day and that we long to meet Him in the air on that glorious day of His second coming when the trumpet will sound, the graves are opened and the dead in Christ rise to meet Him in the air.
Gosh, I get tingles just thinking about that day...that most glorious day.

So when I was planning a new stitchery for you, a small Christmas gift, it was without the baubles and trees and packaged boxes...it was His name alone that impressed itself on my heart and which found it's way onto paper and then fabric.

For really, Jesus is our truest gift.
He is the gift which we should value above all others, the most precious gift from Our Father, a gift which cost more than you or I can ever pay. And this gift was, and still is, free to those who believe in the atoning sacrifice of our Saviour, Lord and King, JESUS, the one and only Son of God who gave His perfect life to pay the penalty for our sins.

You know, a few years ago the Lord comforted me when I cried out to Him, overwhelmed as I was with the expectations our world had put on presents and food and festivities over Christmas. I wanted to run away from it all, climb into the lap of God and hide until the day was past. In those moments He filled my mind and heart with grace and reminded me that everyday with Him is a celebration of Jesus in my life, and no matter what others did I was to be true to Him and treat every day in His presence as a true gift, a free gift, a priceless gift.

So please accept this small gift, inspired by my Jesus, and may it be a reminder to all of us of the truest gift of all.

Bless you heaps,

  11. Always a Christmas favorite is the Name of Jesus in any form- sewn, embroidered, painted, or colored by crayons. Christmas is always so special when Christ is worshiped and we remember why we have a Christmas. Thank you, Jenny for a pretty embroidery pattern. God bless.

  22. That is a lovely pattern & the frame is beautiful. Thank you.

Part of your post reminds me of the words of the lovely prayer written by St Bede:
    "Christ is the morning star
who when the night of this world is past
brings to his saints the promise of the light of life
    & opens everlasting day".

He must have felt exactly as you do about that day Jenny.
I see it every time I go to Durham Cathedral where he is buried.

We have had quite a few Australians visiting the cathedral this year who I have enjoyed chatting to. Hopefully they enjoyed their time there. It's a long way to travel but you can take a virtual visit if you like Jenny. Enjoy!

It's always nice to receive feedback on a blog post, so *thank you* for taking time to comment!
I will try to reply via email unless you are a 'no reply blogger' which means you'll have to check for my reply in the comments. Of course, life is a rather hazardous activity, isn't it? So if I don't respond to your comment that's the reason why - life simply stepped in...
hugs
