My middle daughter is officially one month from her due date today, so I thought it was time I made some bibs and burp cloths to send her just in case she takes after me and delivers earlier than expected.
Of my seven babies only the first went to term, in fact he was 4 weeks over! Back then (1977) they just let me go, but I think those extra weeks kinda did my body in because the next six were all premmies.
Anyhow, back to those bibs and burp cloths!
Amy at Nana Company had a sweet ruffled pattern, but for a newborn I just wanted plain so I omitted the ruffles but used her lovely template. It's tiny too, perfect for a just-met-the-world little girl...
In my stash I found some Tasha Noel fabrics and a few fat quarters of Cinderberry Stitches; both were perfect for these projects...
There's white towelling on the back of the bibs and burp
cloths for easy washing, and I trimmed the bibs with lengths of red and
green gingham bias purchased years ago 'because I liked them'...I knew they'd come in handy one day.
On Monday these will be parceled up and sent all the way south to my girl, along with this cute door hanger I made last year for my magazine. I think it will be perfect on a nursery door, don't you?
Next on my list is to knit booties.
It's been years, but I think I remember how to use yarn and those thin pointy knit sticks.
This pattern looks good - simple, quick, and perfect for pulling over Onesies.
A nice change from stitching with thread, but Mr E may need to replenish the spearmint leaves as I'm a little rusty and could need sustenance. Can you hear him chuckling in the background? I'm so subtle...
