UFO Finish Tuesday...

It's that day again!


This week I delved further down in my UFO stitchery box and found some cute redwork blocks I stitched in 2006, just months after I taught myself to stitch...

I traced them from a Bronwyn Hayes project that featured in a 2005 craft magazine, and after finishing the redwork embroidery they were packed away and sadly, forgotten. 
Until yesterday.
I still have a little stash of French General fabrics on my shelf and they were my first choice for bringing these blocks together as a table runner...

The girl blocks are a hexagon shape, so I framed them with a solid French General red...

I sewed twelve neutral-toned charm squares together before adding the narrow flower blocks to each end. A small length of neutral and red floral finished the side edges...

Before I began hand sewing the edges of the framed hexies the runner needed to be sandwiched with wadding and backing fabric. 
The wadding I use is 100% cotton because it allows the Perle #12 thread to glide through almost effortlessly...

Hexies finished, and hand-quilting begun...

After I complete the quilting and add the binding, those hexies will be hand sewn across the front of the runner. The plan is to have this finished by the end of the week. 

I'm loving UFO Finish Tuesday because it's exciting to see a small dent being made in my UFO stitchery box! Have you decided to join in??

    Just beautiful Jenny - love those colour combinations. I think I might have that mag that those stitcheries were in as they look very familiar to me. I have pulled my UFO's out but thats as far as I have got yet :-)

    I love what you are doing with these! I recognized Bronwyn's designs as soon as I saw that first picture. Like you, she has a distinctive style. Your table runner is so pretty! Yay for finishing UFOs!

    Oh I love those stitcheries....I am so jealous how you ladies have so many talented embroidery designers in Aussie and we have nothing in the US but silly old timey stuff that doesn't appeal to me...Thank goodness for the internet....It is my creation salvation....

    I have the same UFO! All the embroidery is done. I have decided not to make them into a bag as well.
