Two tones...

I'd like to make a very simple quilt.
Just two tones. No fancy piecing.
The kind of quilt that 'hugs' you in it's simplicity and texture. No frills, no designer 'wow' factor, just simple homemade love in cotton.

So I spent some time yesterday just looking.

Then bright sunshine joy yellow found me here...

...before my thoughts ran away to rest on this 'by-the-meadow-green'.

Red the steady, dependable and homely. Like a favourite apron your Nana wore.
This with only squares caused me to catch my breath...

So there I sat, thinking about a quilt in soft and pretty floral hues, two tones, to wrap around me like a welcome home.
This must be a good idea because the warm and fuzzies inside my heart are multiplying.

What two colours would you choose for a quilt of your very own?

  3. I love all the colour palettes you have shown dear Jenny but I think that red & white one at the end just might've made me gasp a little :-) . . . & want one . . . .

  4. Probably green and white, though I have one in progress that is lime and raspberry. I've always wanted a blue and white, and had one promised to me, but it was given away to someone else. I like red and white ... hmm. I think I'm not helping! LOL

  7. A pretty selection of fabrics for your next 'hugging' quilt! I own many quilts but none that are two tone, you have me thinking now??

  8. Oooo I so love those Tilda fabrics. So many quil designs to choose from. JUst enjoy some easy carefree stitching with the aim of snuggling up in your very own quilt.

  9. Oh, Jenny, I just love your thought process! My immediate heart goes straight to the blue/white or red/white combos. But any of the ones you mentioned would be wondrous. I've been thinking of doing one all in blue/white myself, and after seeing your particular photo of blues in the post, THOSE would be just what I had in mind. I can't wait to see what you do. I have 5 lunch bags and 2 quilts I need to finish first, so I hope you get yours started to inspire me further before I get started on mine. Just nice and simple. Love it!

  15. Pink and light green would do me, Jenny although I am sure I will never make any kind of quilt apart from a rag quilt as I am straight line challenged. LOL!

  22. Jenny, purples are my go to color for myself. Yet, I have found in my quilt making process, I go for blues more often than any other fabric. Your blue bundle of fabrics is absolutely beautiful and would make an incredible quilt. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful creative day!
