And she's having...

...a little girl.

Our sweet Blossom is going to hold in her arms a precious little daughter in about 19 weeks from now. Squeals of delight could be heard all over town! She would have been thrilled no matter what the gender, but when a daughter was announced she admitted this had been her heart's desire.
The Lord blesses and blesses.

Naturally we've been shopping for soft feminine quilt fabrics...

...and whilst Blossom is making pillows and stuffed toys for her little girl I am about to sketch up a quilt idea, as well as begin stitching a door hanger using fabric from a very old Mary Engelbreit layer cake called "Basket of Flowers".

I'll have this door hanger pattern (with a boy version as well) in April's issue of The Stitchery Club....

Sewing for a baby is quite a calming experience, don't you think?

My other dear daughter, Aisha, is less than three weeks away from her due date so over the weekend I finished this "Fox in the Woodland" quilt for her soon-to-arrive son (a little brother to her two daughters) and will be posting it away tomorrow...

It's crinkly from the washing machine but I love quilts this way as they are incredibly cuddly, especially with soft bamboo wadding in the middle...

Aisha chose the fabric from a selection I showed her back in January when she and the rest of her family visited for a few days from Sydney. Aisha and hubby Tim loved the idea of a fox in the centre so the quilt became a bright and cheerful woodland display...

I have to say, welcoming two new babies into the fold this year will be the highlight of family life for us.
I'm so proud of my girls. Aisha is a gentle and compassionate mother, and I know already that Blossom will be the same.

Who are you sewing for at the moment, and what are you making?
I'd love to know!

hugs and blessings

  14. Congratulations Jenny and Blossom and Aisha. Wonderful news for your 2 daughters and more grandchildren to your fold. The more the merrier. I am currently sewing a lap quilt for my eldest daughter who has been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer this year (aged 43). Also I am making her a wall hanging which I have almost finished - just need to select fabric for border and backing. Hopefully she will like it. My youngest daugher and I (we both live on Gold Coast) are flying down to melbourne for Easter to spend with Amanda and her fiance and also one of my sons so it will be lovely weekend and we are hoping to do fun things. Amanda is a creative soul like me so fingers crossed her year improves. She was due to get married in May but has cancelled that due to her diagnosis. She is positive and a real champion so all family have rallied together and we are closer than ever.
My older brother passed away on Friday also aged 69 so it has been a tough year but can only get better. It brings joy to my heart to see and feel your happiness.
I am so happy for your daughters Jenny and for your happiness. God Bless You. You deserve all the happiness you can get as you bring so much joy into so many of our lives each and every day with your beautiful blog and your inspiring beautiful work. Thank you.

  28. Good Morning Jenny! Congratulations! I am so delighted for you and your family! I really like your fox quilt, it is so charming and adventuresome for a boy to explore. Have fun creating the little girl quilt with all the lovely fabrics chosen. Quilts are always so much fun to make! I am making a Queen sized Double Wedding Ring Quilt for a dear friend to give to her grand daughter, plus I am working on a couple of baby quilts for my Niece who is expecting her first baby ( a little girl also) and a couple of quilt for Project Linus. I rarely do this many at the same time, it just somehow happened. LOL. I hope that you have a fantastic creative day! God Bless You and May He Watch Over You and Your Family. Amen

  35. Congratulations to Blossom, how lovely for you to have a baby Granddaughter living close to you. My eldest daughter turns 28 tomorrow and is being married on 30 April and I am hoping for a gorgeous little grand baby in the next couple of years.

  36. I am finishing some UFO's to be free to get started on our great granddaughter's quilt. She is due the 6th of July. Her mamma and daddy are having trouble deciding on a color scheme for her nursery. Daddy is leaning toward brighter colors, aqua and coral, Mom is fond of pink and grey and maybe some ivory. What a dilemma! I was hoping to find some lovely flannel yesterday on a road trip, but the shop was closed on Mondays. I should have checked before driving 150 miles. Lesson learned. Granddaughters are the greatest. I have 3 and 2 step-granddaughters. So happy for your new little ones.

  40. Congratulations on the two little ones who are soon to arrive. Such a HAPPY time! I love your fox quilt.

Right now I am working on my very first charity quilt. I am thrilled with the way it is progressing and I know it is going to be HARD to send it off. However, it was begun as a charity quilt and it will end as a charity quilt. I firmly believe we all need to give back.

I will try to reply via email unless you are a 'no reply blogger' which means you'll have to check for my reply in the comments. Of course, life is a rather hazardous activity, isn't it? So if I don't respond to your comment that's the reason why - life simply stepped in...
