Rainy day blues...but not the sad kind.

It's raining again...

I sat out on the back deck and pondered what to on another rainy weekend...

...and decided blue may be the order of the day.

You see, last night I spent a few hours playing with my Rachel Ashwell "Chambray Rose" fabrics...all blues...another $4/metre bargain buy earlier this year...

...the plan being to make twelve different 12" blocks for a quilt 'cause I've been badly bitten by the patchwork bug this month.

I scoured through patchwork books, magazines, pinterest pages, google - all to find twelve different blocks I could play with, and more importantly, that had a 4" square in the middle so I could fussy cut some floral sprays. Yeh, I know, fussy cutting is another obsession this month...

By bedtime I had two blocks finished, and two ankles covered in mosquito bites (downside of life in the tropics)...

There's no rush on this quilt, but as it's raining I might just get a few more blocks done today and tomorrow.
Shame Mr E and I cannot go adventuring, though. Still, muddy mountain tracks can be fun. We'll see what he thinks.

Here's a little happy news!
Our young Blossom had a rather nasty car accident two weeks ago when she had a speeding car ram into the back of her at the traffic lights. Her little pink Micra was written off and she suffered a severe whiplash, swelling and bruising along her spine, chest compression from the seat belt, and shock - but she is alive and ok, praise God.

On Thursday Mr E and her went car shopping and found a sweet silver Lancer to be 'just right' for her transport needs. It was lovely to see her smiling and healthy again!

I decided not to share the news of her accident at the time as we all kind of huddled together and just wanted to be private, but thankfully all is well, and as the other driver was insured she has wheels again.
She handled the whole ordeal with great maturity and we're incredibly proud of our girl.

Parenting is a real mix of joy and drama isn't it?

hugs
 jenny x

What a relief that Blossom came out of the accident with no permanent injuries. I bet it really scared you all. Please give her an extra big hug from me. PS your blues are beautiful.

So sorry about Blossom's accident, but glad to hear she is OK.( Parenting can take it out of you, can't it?) The car is cute, as is your daughter:)

Your blocks look great. Fussy cutting can be fun, especially if you have "the perfect" fabric for it. Sorry to hear about the car accident, glad no one was injured. Cute car.

Blossom looks very happy with her new car, but a horrible way for it to come about, similar accident happened to our daughter at similar age twenty something years ago, anyway she found out need to be very mindful of whiplash injury down the track, such a relief Blossom is ok and she is looking good, worrying time for you all nonetheless. Love your blue patchwork Jenny and the fussy cutting, lessons here too, I need to keep notes of all these blogs for future reference. I may take a dip/plunge into patchwork one day, think it just requires a little dip into the shallows to begin with, something small, I learnt the English method of piecing with hexis more years ago than I care to remember and that is as far as I went with patchwork, your work is very inspiring, thank you for sharing and hope you manage a trip into the outdoors over the weekend and enjoy the best of both worlds. She also has scoliosis, Judithann, so she is regularly monitored with her spine and neck - she will be keeping an eye on it even more now. x

Good to hear Blossom is doing well. We had a similar thing happening to us, but we were OK apart from shock and SME stiffness. We thanked God and were reminded that we are priveledged to have a lovely family. Love your blues...comes across as being very peaceful.😀

I'm very glad Blossom is OK. Also it's good she's not afraid of getting behind the wheel again. If it had to happen I'm glad she didn't see it coming. That way she didn't tense up and make it worse. Your Blues are beautiful. As usual the balance of pattern size and placement work well. Could you please give us the names of your blocks as you make them? I'm sure there are a couple of us out here who might like to steal your research for blocks you can put a little something special in the middle of like fussy cutting or pictures or embroideries or ... Thank you for sharing all your beautiful work or should we call it play because you seems to have so much fun.

Those events are so scary - they never seem to get easier, do they. All we can do sometimes is pray for them. So glad to hear your Blossom is OK.
