16th Friday Show and Tell...with lots of daisies!

How exciting it has been this week to see completed Daisy-Do quilts dropping into my email box!

How are you going with yours?

Fiona was thinking outside the box with hers and used some fun and funky, chunky beads for the flower centres, and what gorgeous fabric she chose!! So lovely and bright!

Jytte in Denmark has made her Daisy-Do more subdued, with a Makower Zen Flowers print and DMC 4210 thread. As soon as I saw her photo I felt that this was a very calming place to hang out...love it! She couldn't find mother-of-pearl buttons so she used little beads instead...

Amanda in the UK chose Kaffe Fassett blues for her version of Daisy-Do. It reminds me of some wonderful bohemian inspired fabrics I bought ages ago - carefree and filled with wanderlust. Beautiful!!

Now, if you're looking for inspiration you should visit Carla Louise! She's always making up wonderful projects! I love this little cosmetic purse of hers - she used the design from my 'Fresh As A Daisy" bag (a free download on our Gum Tree Designers blog in September) and stitched it to the front of her purse. Love the beaded zipper pull too!

It's been a busy couple of days here after Sam's 18th. 

On my boy's birthday I was contacted with the exciting news that I will have a project published in he Spring issue of STITCH magazine in the United States! But, then another email arrived and I will also have a quilt design featured as Homespun's web bonus for their Garden Issue next August! (I also have gorgeous projects being published in the March and April 2011 issues of Homespun too!!) 

How exciting is that! :-)

Daisy-Do completed!!

I really hope you have enjoyed stitching my Daisy-Do BOM!

Today I am sharing the last block and the quilt assembly instructions. 

Block 5 is the same as Block 1...

 

...and all five blocks together make this lovely wallhanging sized quilt!

Now to start working on next year's BOM. 

This year I shared two BOMs - ~Bouquet~ and 'Daisy-Do' - but next year there will just be the one and it will run for 12 months. Hope you'll be stitching it with me from January.

In the meantime I'm just finishing a free design I'll be sharing for Christmas. Want a sneak peek?

A few of you asked what Homespun issue the Flower Fairy pattern can be found in. It's issue 66 (Vol 9.11). The designer is Annie Smith.

It's wet and cool here today, such a pleasant change from the tropical heat. Perfect sewing weather, and as my hands are all healed from the copious amounts of aloe vera I caked them in overnight I can settle right down and do some. :-)

Daisy-Do ~ Block 4!

It's already October 1st! My, this year has flown by!

The Cottage Garden thread looked gorgeous in the chain stitched wording, those pretty colours definitely taking centre stage! :-)

~Daisy-Do~ my new BOM for July-August-September-October!

I won't spoil the fun by showing you any blocks before July 1st, but I will share some sneak peeks...

...and I can tell you what supplies you'll need.

One fat quarter of print fabric of your choice (I chose some Amy Butler)

1 skein pansy coloured variegated thread (I used Cottage Garden's *Pansy*)

1 skein variegated browns thread (I chose Cottage Garden's *Blackwood*)

1/3 yard (1/3 metre) white homespun or white quilter's muslin

1/3 yard (1/3 metre) backing fabric

1 small jar red/brown glass seed beads

4,  3/4" diameter mother-of-pearl buttons

2, 5/8" diameter mother-of-pearl buttons

26, 1/2" diameter mother-of-pearl buttons

...you will also need wadding, Vliesofix (for applique), and Whisperweft to back the stitched blocks.

When I had finished it, this was all that was left of my Amy Butler fat quarter. Amazing!
