18 wonderful years!

Today is our 18th wedding anniversary.
Mr Elefantz never quite remembers the date, but assures me every year that it's the Saturday after Christmas! Why? Because we got married on the Saturday after Christmas in 1991. I don't care how he remembers it, I'm just so blessed that he chose me to be his wife and has stood by me through good and bad, struggles and triumphs, all these years. He's my true beloved.
Today he surprised me with a voucher for TWO one hour massages! He ch0se a lady close to home who specialises in people who suffer migraine, so I'm going to book in for my first session next week. Mr Elefantz thinks through what gifts to give, and always surprises me with something I'd never get myself but something I love.
As you know I have only been sewing for just over 4 years. The first quilt I made was just three months after I picked up a needle and thread - it was a wedding quilt for our 14th anniversary in 2005....

No-one was around to teach me, so I didn't know I should start with something smaller, or easier. I saw this pattern in Country Threads and loved it, so in one week I made it! The colours aren't what I like to decorate with anymore, but the sentimental attachment is so great that it spends every summer on our bed.
~~~~~
As promised here is Blossom's quilt!
She is finding it hard to get out of bed in the mornings now. She loves to be wrapped in her quilt and visiting far off lands in her dreams....she even has an afternoon siesta under it.
~~~~~

Today I took a break from recycling of towels, and finished my new BOM! Well, it's almost finished - just a bit more quilting and then the binding. I will give you another little sneak peek....

She is adorned with beads and lace, and her name is "Bouquet".
January 7th and you'll get to download block 1!

Just a short blog post tonight, I'm off to have some celebration Chocolate Ripple Cake that Blossom made for us!

Hugs
Jenny

Happy Anniversary, Jenny. What a thoughtful husband you have there! I'm sure you take good care of each other. Blossom's quilt came out beautifully. It's difficult to believe you've only been quilting for 4 years. Guess you are just a natural. Looking forward to your next BOM with great anticipation. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Today is my youngest daughter's birthday..she is 28, married with 4 kids. It might be a good thing no one taught you to quilt or you might not know you could sew as well as you do. Your first quilt is great, and your ?daughter's quilt is so pretty...ice cream sherbert colors. Yum!

Happy anniversary. What a thoughtful present. Nice!

I love your first quilt. You're much braver than me. I've sewn since I was little but never yet made a quilt. I'm collecting fabric though. It's slow because the fabrics are so expensive here. I look for them in the sales to build up my collection.

Happy anniversary, Jen! May you have many happy years ahead!

Congrats on the wedding anniversary! You sewing skills are outstanding for only sewing for 4 years! I have only been quilting for 2 1/2 years now, but I continue to try to challenge myself. Blossoms' quilt turned out so adorable! I love how the corners just touch the floor so evenly, and the fabric is just yummy! Can't wait until Jan 7th! Enjoy you massages!

Hugs!

Happy Anniversary! Love your first quilt - so glad you didn't know the 'rules' - sometimes they hold you back!

Love the freshness of Blossom's quilt - and it will easily go on a larger bed when that time of her life arrives... what a glorious new family heirloom for her! I can just picture her telling her grandchildren one day of how her mum made it special for her one very hot summer...

I'd be interested to know if the massage therapy helps as my daughter suffers from migraine as well...

Thanks for sharing with us Jenny. May your New Year be Bright with many Blessings in 2010...

(I may have already told you that, but if I repeat myself it just means it's really important!)

Jenny (and Mr. Jenny LOL) congratulations on your 18th anniversary. DH and I celebrated our 36th on Dec. 19. Lovely quilts, and your first one just goes to show that if no-one is around to tell us otherwise, we can do most anything! I can see why Blossom loves her quilt - it's so girly! Thank you for sharing, and I am eagerly awaiting Jan. 7 (little brother's birthday! :) )

Congratulations on your anniversary. You made me laugh because my DD Jenifer's Birthday is May 10th. One year it fell on Mother's day. Her ex-fiance always thought that her birthday was on Mother's Day after that. Must be a guy thing.
