Two things that were top of the 'maybe this is what's wrong?' list were a Bakers Cyst and Compartment Syndrome. Both have serious aspects and so I decided not to worry about them but hand it over to Father and look for more joy in the days between tests and diagnosis. And as always, God is more than good. I've been in good spirits, gave myself the nickname Stork because I'm spending a lot of time on one leg, and allowed my amazing husband to do the things I cannot - which made him especially happy. Blessed.
So today the diagnosis came in: acute tendon damage in the lower right leg.
I begin physiotherapy on Tuesday, will be a long time recovering as the damage is rather bad, and imagine a huge amount of hand stitching is in my future.
Mr E, in his wisdom, has decided that when the lease on this two storey house expires next January that we shall move to a single level abode as all these stairs may continue to aggravate the problem.
Thanks for your prayers...I felt them. I felt such calm and joy this past week. Blessed.
So with lots of rest between gentle movement I will admit that I've started and unpicked my new cross stitch design three times already.
I began the fourth version yesterday...
It's been partially stitched in Cottage Garden threads, Anchor threads, and DMC threads before I began unpicking, and now, for the forth and final version (and hopefully the one I love and will publish) the thread that is gracing my linen is Valdani...
This may be the winner. It's beautiful...
So I shan't unpick this one.
It shall be finished. Promise...
Thank you for all your wonderful comments left on yesterday's post about the quilt I've made for a soon-to-be-born granddaughter!
Then hearing about your own gift-giving made my day and inspired my heart.
It also encouraged me to show you some gifts I purchased recently for myself, two of my daughters, and a 13yo granddaughter.
I found this sweet little Etsy shop through Pinterest that sells unique handmade silver jewellery, and as all three girls have just celebrated birthdays within about eight weeks of each other it was a gift I wanted us all to share in...
The seller is Susan and she makes the jewellery herself in her home studio. Isn't it beautiful?
I have another two daughters that may be in need of a mummy gift soon, so I'm off to shop...
Have a weekend that makes others smile!
my love and hugs to you all,
It sounds that even though your recovery 'may' be long, it is good news. Glad to know I'm not the only one that unstitches.
Acute tendon damage sounds painful but fixable. Yay!! Keep us informed on your recovery!
Ouch! Sounds like a pretty painful diagnosis, but sometimes it's good to finally know what's up. I hope you feel better soon! The jewelry is beautiful!
Even though you have a long recovery ahead of you, I'm sure you are glad to finally know what the problem is and that it can be fixed. It seems the worse part for me is waiting for a diagnosis.
That jewelry is beautiful! Lucky girls to get such nice gifts:)
It's unfortunate that you will be leaving this beautiful home that has given you such rest and peace, but with your diagnosis, I'm glad Mr E has made the tough decision. He certainly sounds like your prince charming - allow him to look after you and the home where he needs to step in to help sweetie!! As it says in Eccleisasties 3, there is a time and a season for everything - this seems to need to be a season of rest for you - rest in Him, and physical rest. Don't push yourself too hard, and, as you said to me ... promise to do exactly what the doctor and physio says to do!! :)
The silver jewellery is gorgeous!! I can see why you chose those pieces for you and the girls - they're really quite special!! I've gone to have a look at Susan's shop, and wow! What talent and skill!! It's a shame silver jewellery doesn't really work with my skin colouring (I do wear a touch, but it's generally just in the minor fixings of earrings that are bright in colour ... I mostly wear gold ;) ), but my sister and a few cousins wear silver jewellery really well, and I can already spy several pieces they'd absolutely love!! Always nice to discover new-to-you designers!! Thanks for sharing your find!!
Take care sweet Jen!! Enjoy your weekend - and, as I will be, rest that leg of yours!!! Huge hugs!! xxx
How in the world did you hurt your leg?? I'm so sorry but know you will take precautions and REST. Looking forward to your new stitchery!! And be good to Jenny!!
I am so sorry about your poor leg Jen. Must have missed your post with my blogger issues. I do hope your physio helps and you heal quickly. Big congrats on your new grand baby too. Sending big hugs and healing xxxx
ahhh the peace of an answer. Just as well you enjoy hand stitching so you can heal.
I am glad to hear that you know what the problem is now. The not knowing is hard. I hope you have a speedy recovery! I will keep you in prayer. Lovely jewelry! I look forward to seeing the cross stitch project you are working on.
At least you now know what the problem is Jenny. Hopefully it won't take too long to heal. Hugs, Christine xx
Good to have a diognoses sew now you can get on with getting better. How great to have your dear hubby to take care of you while you stitch...
You have the right attitude for a complete recovery! You must have a tremendous amount of patience to do beautiful stitchery the way you do! That will be to your advantage in this recovery of your leg. Your work is inspiring & I love to see your new projects!! Congrat to you on being an expectant grandmother again! It's the most wonderful thing in the world isn't it!! Happy stitching & quick healing wishes are being sent your way!!
It's good that you now know what you're dealing with :) Just be sure to listen to your doctor....do the excercises that your physiotherapist tells you to do and take things easy! I'm glad that Mr E has made the decision to take you guys to a single level home...I'm pretty sure that you'd have come up with excuses to not move if it had been left with you :)
I absolutely love the jewelry that you've gotten the girls...Her owl pieces are stunning - I love owls :)
Am so looking forward to seeing your cross stitch piece!
Rest well xx
What beautiful jewellery! Good to know that with patience and physio your leg will get better. I hurt my leg/hip in later February and only recently has it come right. Boy, did it need some patience from me!
Glad to hear you have a diagnosis. Now hopefully once therapy begins you can start the road to recovery. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will Jenny's leg heal overnight. Slow and steady and you will recover. The Valdani threads are so beautiful. Looks like a winner for sure. And the jewelry is absolutely gorgeous.
What did you do to get Acute tendon damage? It sounds really painful. :(
Take it easy, Jenny. So glad Mr. E is jumping in to help you. :)
Jenny - I'm glad they found out what was wrong with your leg. May your recovery be a strong one. Please take care.
You know what is wrong, so you are on your way to recovery!! Best Wishes!! I love those beautiful necklaces.
I love the Valdani colors. That's my favorite perle thread for stitching SO many things, and only money keeps me from having every color they make! Interestingly, I used their threads by preference in my longarm quilting, too, but they are harder to find now than they were ten years ago. Love that jewelry - beautiful pieces. I'm sorry you will have to give up your wonderful house - if I could afford to move to OZ, I would definitely take over in January! But maybe you will find an even better one and be even happier. I AM glad the damage turned out to be something fixable and not something more serious.
So pleased to read that with physiotherapy it will get better. So good we can give everything to God and gain strength in knowing He is always with us. Sure He really lives storks😉 Take care and happy stitching, can't wait to see how it turns out.
Thank goodness you have a diagnosis and can now move forward. :) i so love the way you photograph your projects! I have learned a lot just by looking at your posts! And when I saw those necklaces, I recognized them...my son likes to shop on Etsy, and a couple of years ago he gave me a little necklace that I recognize must have come from the same artist! Mine is a little bird flying into a little birdhouse.
so glad you now have a diagnosis. A period of hand work always is restful and relaxing between therapy session. Best of luck, my prayers as well.
It is always a relief to have a diagnosis then you can start dealing with the issue in the right way. I will be praying for a speedy recovery for you. I have been using the Valdani thread lately and really like it.
I glad for your good news and sorry it will take so long to recover. I broke my ankle two years ago and my husband and I also had to move to another house. We went from a three story to a two story with all my areas on the main floor. It has helped a lot. So good luck finding a lovely new home with the charm you love. I'm sure it will help you too!
Jenny, did you say which leg it was? Just wondering if it is your right leg and too much sewing machine time could have injured it. I'm so glad you have such a great diagnosis - no surgery and not a life-long problem!! God is so good!!! Love how Mr. E is taking such good care of you, and his choice to move to a single story house, even though difficult to leave a home you love, is probably the best choice to keep you and all your parts working properly!! Just as you patiently do your stitches, patiently work on healing your leg. Prayers will be unceasing!!
So glad you finally have a diagnosis and can finally move on. I didn't know you had more than 2 daughters. You only talk about Blossom and Kezzie. I will be keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
A relief to have a diagnosis and physio treatment plan of your leg problem Jenny, any idea how injury was caused, that was interesting comment re using sewing machine, I tense and seem to use my entire body when using machine. Love where you are living now but next one could be better still, stairs can be a huge problem, my daughter early 40's has problem with her knees with stairs and finds the orthotic thongs from chemists etc make all the difference for her, also when injury to one part another part can sometimes takes too much strain. Cross stitch sounds lovely sometimes takes few attempts to get results desired and so worth it. Thanks for the jewellery pic and info, gorgeous pieces, love the tree of life and the birds, I'm going to shop for gifts, very reasonable prices for quality and beautiful work. Hope the pain under control and you enjoy a sweet, creative weekend and good you have wonderful help too. Judithann :-)
All the best Jenny and take care them legs have to keep you going for many more years ahead, cheers Vickie
So glad to hear that your diagnosis is nothing serious. Physical therapy can be painful but it is for the best.
Sorry to hear about your leg, at least you know what is wrong and that there is a treatment for it. Sending good thoughts and prayers that your therapy is successful. Good thing you are a pro at moving. I hope the 4th time works. Oh the gifts you bought are beautiful. Thanks for the link, I need a retirement gift for a co-worker.
Those Valdani threads do look gorgeus. Good luck with the physio. xx
