Well, it's official, 4 weeks from today we leave this southern coast and drive 7,000 klms to our new home in the far north tropics of Australia. So what have I been doing this week?
Organising tomorrow's garage sale, finding a new home for our dog, searching for last minute accommodation along the 9 day drive (right in the middle of school holidays!), emailing back and forth between furniture removalists, and just about everything else you need to plan with an across country relocation.
And I stitched. I had to. It was my sanity. :-)
I even designed some wonderful new stitcheries!
Here's a sneak peek of Country Roses, still waiting to be stitched...
....and Shabby Roses Christmas, all finished.
My sweet friend Fee (and her cherub Bella) blessed my socks off by posting me this HUGE pile of PINK (!!!) fabrics to take with me on the move - she knew all that pink would just thrill me, and it did! She knows me so well. :-)
Thanks Fee and Bella. I feel an apron session coming on....
I stitched my Dresden block into a cushion for Blossom. I did it while she was working at the Tea Rooms, and she was so surprised when she got home and found it sitting up on her bedside table waiting for her. Yes, she loves pink too. :-)
~~~~~~
And here are some stitcheries some clever bloggers have made from my designs!
Allie won my Wonky Houses giveaway, and as a little extra gift I drew her a personalised Shabby Roses name block. I appliqued it with the fabric I'm using in the Shabby Roses BOM, and left it for her to stitch - she did such a beautiful job!!
I love the fabrics Kristina has used in this Wonky Houses wallhanging!! They frame the blocks so well!!
Terry does the prettiest colouring of blocks, and her block 4 is so sweet!! There is a whimsical aspect to it that I love.
And remember the Shabby Roses bookmark pattern I shared? This is Xioe's - don't you love it!? It's beautiful Xioe!
Has anyone else made one yet?
Tonight we're buying kebabs so I can have a night off cooking...
and then I'm going to stitch some more!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Jenny
My wonderful friend Vicki has posted me your patterns for blocks 4 & 5 and they arrived today,just in time for the long weekend.I can't wait to trace them out and start on them.
I hope your move isn't too traumatic and you settle into your new home OK.Sorry to hear you have to leave a beloved pet behind :( Barb.
It's wonderful to have a hobby that you love, especially during this hectic time for you. I'm sure you're excited about the move too. Your dresden pillow is just gorgeous and what a yummy pile of pink!
Good luck with the move Jenny! Your Dresen cushion looks wonderful! I bought the Dreseden tool the other day but haven't used it yet. It's on my "to-do" list! Enjoy your day! :0)
Sounds like very busy days ahead. Enjoy your stitching!
My gosh Jenny, that's a huge re-location, which part of Qld are you moving to? I enjoyed 9 lovely years in Hervey Bay. Hope it all goes well for you.
Off to wonderful Queensland? A great state - everyone will welcome you with open arms - God bless!
Hugs - lurline♥
I agree, I love the fabrics Kristina used! They are so warm :)
Good luck with your move! :)
Wow thats a long way to be relocating - a different climate even! A good friend of mine used to live in Townsville, Queensland. Lovely blocks, can't wait for country roses.
Good luck with your move. I have relocated 8 different times (in the US) and understand what you're going through. I am making the "love" block into a pillow for my great aunts 95th birthday. It is a perfect design for her. I'm also using the bookmark on the back as a label with all the pertinent information.
I just smile a bunch when I come here. I love all the stitchery you do!! I am now thanking God I thought to bring along my cross stitch bag . . . to finish one project and start my OLOG (just like yours you've done) . . . I won't have any of my other craft things until the end of July. Then, I'll start on the wonky houses. I really want to make those!
As ever, you inspire me! Good luck and God bless you on your move!!
Woow 7,000 Kmls to drive to a new home. I can't hardly believe it. I've always been living here in Pisa since I was born. Sometimes I try to imagine how it could be moving in another country but I don't know I could really do it.
Hope you don't move from your blog too. It's so lovely reading about you, your family, your way of life and admiring yor wonderful creations. You're such a dear friend.
Hope everything goes well for you and your family.
Blessings, Elisa
Hi Jenny,
Wishing you and your family the very best of luck with your packing and shifting.
Wow, that's a Hugh shift.
Have loads of fun with your new pink fabric, you lucky lady.
Hugs,
Anna
Oh dear...Having to leave a pet behind is terrible isn't it? I hope you can find him a beautiful home in which they'll love and adore him all his days!
Where are you moving to? Mackay is the start of the tropics, so I'm guessing Townsville or Cairns? I love Townsville! There's taipans everywhere there! And alot of pythons too...
Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have told you that...
Come have a go at my guessing giveaway! It finishes at sunset tonight though...
Such lovely creations! I have been downloading all the Shabby Roses directions and hope to begin working on tghem as sson as our school year is done. I have a request for you: could you do a block with the word Faith? And maybe one with Hope? :)
Praying for your move, Jenny and family.
Off to wonderful Queensland? I wonder how far north your going, I have a friend in Townsville..
Have a safe trip, hope it all goes well..
Julia ♥
Wishing you a smooth move and welcome to the sunshine state. Now that the fog has lifted, it's a beautiful sunny day.
It sounds so weird to hear you say far north TROPICS. Here, it's the south, lol. 4 weeks isn't very long...I'm praying for a good home for your puppy, how sad is that! I'm so glad you got some stitching in.
Country Roses....Shabby Christmas....oh Jen. They sound heavenly.
Gorgeous pinks, what a blessing! Blossom's cushion is lovely. Love the stitcheries you showed [even mine, can't get enough of looking at it, lol!]. I need to make the bookmark - got it printed off - just need to get a new marking pen for tracing. I have someone in mind to give it to.
I'm praying for your sanity, dear Jen, while you go through all the insanity involved in moving!
Gail, using the bookmark design as a quilt label is a beautiful idea!!
Hello darling Jenny!
I am sure that the next few weeks are going to fly by for you, and before you know it you are going to be happily relocated and starting your new adventure.
Your new stitcheries are absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see more of them!
What a beautiful gesture for Fee and her Cherub to give you such beautiful fabrics!
Hugs sweetie!
Vikki :-) xxxxxxxx
HI Jenny
Oh that is a long way to move. We moved 1200 miles 4 years ago. I have never looked back! You are such an amazingly talented woman, I just love everything you do. I hope you don't mind I have added you to my favorites.
xoxo
Diane
Safe travels in your move!
Hope you had a good garage sale and now have a little less to pack. Welcome to Queensland. I live in the south-east which I love but the tropic north is great too. Your patterns look wonderful and I will look forward to when they become available to purchase as I have enjoyed starting your free BOM Shabby Roses. Blue is my favourite colour and roses, well, I just love them. All the best with your move.
My first two wonky houses are now on my blog!
Hi Jen,
I did the big move 7 years ago but from the Tropics to the Apple Isle. It was pretty stressful and I can't imagine how hard it is for you to leave a pet behind. I hope the move goes well and travel safely over the 7000kms (hmm wonder how many lasp of Tassie I'd have to do to rack that many k's on my odometer?). Watch out for the roos at night?
Hugs
Jo
Wow, moving is always exciting. Sorry you have to find a home for your dog. That must be tough.
Love all the photos. Beautiful.
I can't believe it. I am such a bad bloggy friend, I don't know how you put up with me! I knew I should have looked on this blog sooner, the one I've been following was so quiet... I probably would have checked sooner if I hadn't been so busy and kept forgetting...
Anyway, I just realized today that you moved again and read through three pages of posts here to find out how much I missed. Wow! I hope you are all happily settled in your new home now. I love the possum picture! Now I'm going to stick this blog on my "blogs that I follow" list so I don't lose track of you again. :o)
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
