A big week...

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American followers!!
I'm sure you've all been enjoying good food and family reunions over the last couple of days, and will no doubt already be preparing for the celebration of Christ's birth, along with the rest of the world, in just four weeks time. I hope we all remember to savour every moment of these celebrations with loved ones as the years seem to pass by too quickly now, the children grow and change before our eyes, and so many of our loved ones move away and are no longer there to share a coffee or a meal with us.
Whether you have a large family, just a few, or perhaps you're spending the day with friends, may you remember to be a blessing as well as be blessed at Christmas, and tell each one how much you love them.
~~~~~
I've been quiet this week because I'm making plans to be more organised in 2010 - to balance my roles of wife, mother, housekeeper, designer, teacher's aide, and 'just Jenny'. However, something else happened to slow down the week - Blossom had a small accident.
This was the last week of the school year and the students had spent all Tuesday in the school pool playing water sports. A large water slide was constructed and during the very last slide of the day dear Blossom took a tumble and slammed her head into the ground - this resulted in her putting her top tooth right through the bottom lip and out the other side...
The staff at the local hospital informed us that they no longer stitch inside the mouth as it is vascular and heals quickly. The opening in her chin however needed to be glued together - something they do to avoid scarring from stitches. An anaesthetic gel on the inner lip, painkillers and a tetanus shot later, we came back home armed with the largest chocolate thickshake we could find. Straws and thickshakes were her best friend for the next 24 hours.
The swelling subsided a lot overnight and to brighten her up again I took her to the hairdresser's for a new summer hairstyle. Isn't she gorgeous?
Katrin has finished her Shabby Roses quilt, and it's beautiful!!! I love the scalloped edge!
How are you going with your Shabby Roses quilt blocks?
Don't forget on December 1st I will share the quilt label with you, as well as the final assembly instructions if you'd like to finish it like mine.
I'll share some photos tomorrow of what's being stitched by Blossom and myself - yes, she's got her stitching mojo back now that school is over. It's lovely!
Hugs
Jenny
My oldest bit her lip like this many years ago. She was about two when she jumped off the sofa and took a tumble biting a whole in her lip. Healed up nicely! Have a grand day! Cathy
I hope that Blossom is feeling better. Look at the bright side. It could have been worse. She looks lovely with her new hairdo. Kids do heal quickly and she will be right as rain in no time.
She looks so pretty - Love her new hairstyle. Give her a big hug from me XXXX
Ouch, that looks painful. It is good that they do also consider the cosmetic side of facial injuries these days. He new hairdo looks great.
The quilts are lovely, have to confess that mine is still on a 'to do' list.
Oh my goodness, poor Blossom!! My Michael did the same thing the other day, not quite through the other side, but almost..I was amazed how quickly it healed and no real scarring to be seen. Praying for a quick recovery from that for Blossom!
Ouch, ouch, ouch! Your poor girl! I didn't even know teeth could do that!
I was cringing at the description of the accident before I even looked at the pictures. Good idea to use chocolate milkshakes. Chocolate cures everything. Prayers for quick healing.
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
Hi Jenny,
Gosh, Blossom is such a pretty young lady, lucky not too much damage was done.
Love the Shabby Roses quilt, I've actually started on mine. YIPPEE
OK, started! with Christmas and other projects to finish for gifts, please don't expect to see too much in the near future.
If only there were more hours in the day and I didn't need any beauty sleep I'd get a lot more done.
Have a great weekend,
Hugs,
Anna
Yikes...no concussion? Good and am very happy that Blossom is recovering nicely...looks like she may have just another cute little dimple in her already pretty dimpled chin! Whewwww! Kids...Mike Jr. went over the handle bar of his bike when he was about six or seven and his two front teeth got knocked back up into his gums. The orthodontist has been talking about removing those 2 teeth...rather dramatically...I insist she wait...we have waited and the teeth are just now coming down. Eureka! the adult teeth are pushing their way in! The things that happen to our children. Anyhoo, glad Blossom is okay and yes, she is gorgeous! Thanksgiving was wonderful here; all my children here together; I LOVE THEIR NOISE! lol, wouldn't have it any other way!
Have a blessed day!
Ok, it's worse seeing it than just hearing it. Poor Blossom! I'm glad she's feeling better, I LOVE her new haircut, she is such a beauty!
Shabby Roses is on hold while I finish off a few Christmas gifts. I'm not making much - mostly cookies, and we're going to have a cookie party at my house. We'll bake til we drop. And try not to eat them all.
I bite my lip all the time, and have done it really bad once, so I do identify. Once you bite it, you tend to bite it again!
Poor darling! Oh dear... Good thing there won't be any scarring! Tell her hi from me, and that boost juices are fantastic in this heat! Oh, and homemade bluberry thickshakes. You combine frozen blueberries with some milk and a little icing sugar, whizz it all up together, but make sure it's thick! If it's not thick enough, add more berries.
It just HAD to be while its so hot didn't it? Oh well, I spose waiting in an airconditioned A&E isn't the worst it could have been...
