Adding sweetness to a frame...

I love the idea of framing special quotes, or Scriptures that really resonate personally with my life.
When I chose this Sunday's Scripture and sketched it out, it occurred to me that a permanent place to display the new verse each week would be a lot nicer than always stuck on my fridge door.

Of course you can simply enjoy Galatians 6:9 as it is below and print it up for yourself or email to a friend - one lady emailed to say she was using the weekly verse as her computer's wallpaper (what a lovely idea)...

...or if you'd like to frame it, I'll walk you through how I made a decorative frame for display purposes.
You may even have a favourite quote or Scripture verse of your own that can be displayed this way - this tutorial is so simple yet quite effective!

Choose a frame and dismantle the pieces. I chose to discard the glass in mine, but you may prefer to keep yours...

Print up the verse from HERE and choose a fabric that compliments it...

Cut a piece 1.5 inches larger than the matting used in your frame...

Press the fabric and remove all the creases before drawing a line 1/2 " inside the matting opening...

Cut out the fabric inside the drawn line, and make diagonal cuts from the corner of the fabric to the corner of matting board...

Roll some glue along the edge of the matting and fold the fabric over onto it. Press flat with your fingers...

Do the same with the outside edge of the fabric and matting.
Lay the fabric covered matting face down over the Scripture and when you're happy with how it's centered, trace around the edge so you can cut the Scripture to fit the frame...

Cut along the drawn line and after replacing the matting in the frame, add the Scripture, and replace the mounting board behind it...

Looks lovely, doesn't it?!

Idea ~ you could do this to another frame and place a stitchery inside instead of printed paper.

The fabric I chose to frame this Scripture was an old Fig Tree line called "Whimsy".
This was another way of using up some of the fabrics I talked about late last year - the ones that need their moment to shine.
You can read that particular blog post HERE.

Have you been shopping in your stash lately? What did you make?

Have a wonderfully blessed Sunday!
hugs
Jenny

Oh my, what a great idea! I have joined the Stitch from Stash that's going on, the brainchild of Mel in Canada. Besides stitching stash I have a lot of fabric....so perfect! Details are on my blog if you are interested, Jenny. So glad the typhoon didn't come your way and hoping where it did hit the damage wasn't too great.

I am going to do this framing with .."Think on these things. Whatever is pure, right, noble, true, lovely, admirable and worthy of praise. Think on these things."
Thanks for the idea!

In 2011 I started your Give Thanks banner and stitcheries....well you know what happens, Life Happens!
Any way, I used a fat quarter bundle that I hadn't been able to cut into, cause I loved it so much. I am almost finished with the base banner and all 12 stitcheries. If I can figure out how to send you a picture of it all done, I will. Thanks for challenging me to let the fabric shine!

i'm curious… Why didn't you cut a diagonal line on the fabric on the outside that you folded over?

I never thought of it, Becky! Thank you! :-)
