Behind the scenes and after the wedding...

~ A Crafty Wedding~

My girls were both born with a crafty gene! You know that Blossom can stitch and design, but Kezzie also has a creative streak!

Behind the scenes of Kezzie's wedding (which was done on a very tight budget), my girl skillfully put together many of the reception decorations as well as the jewellery she wore, the little hats the bridesmaids and boys wore, and the boy's shirts.

...the shirts have double rows of hand stitched red braid.

Plus she made her own jewellery, as well as all the bouquets!

It's part of who she is. Always getting joy out of what she can make herself, and wanting to bless others too. 

The wedding reception was a simple BBQ, but she made all the salads the day before, as well as some of the desserts with the help of her friend Jacinta.

I was 'allowed' to make the boys spotty ties, and some Blueberry & Lemon, and Cherry & Orange Shortcakes. 

In fact the Cherry & Orange Shortcake was her wedding cake!

~ Last night~

Finally, last night after putting family and friends on planes home, Kezzie, Bert and the boys could wind down. They called Blossom and I down to the beach for a relaxed dinner at the Souvlaki Bar and then a long walk along the shore. We ended the night with coffee and gelato at Juliette's kiosk overlooking the ocean. 

Mr E is working away this week, so he missed our lovely time together, but I took plenty of photos.

 Just before we said our goodbyes Kezzie and Bert got to open their wedding gifts. You see, they wanted to do this after all the guests had gone home and they were alone with us.

It was very emotional, there by the beach in the dark, opening gifts...and they loved them. We all shed a tear, and I was especially moved as Bert read the verses from the quilt to us all...

 

And so ends the wedding story of my darling Karen & Brett (aka Kezzie & Bert).

Now on to a beautiful and blessed marriage together.

We arrived at Kezzie's house about an hour before the wedding. Kezzie and Bloss had so much fun doing hair and make-up before donning their dresses...

I kept eyes on Deegan and Cal...

...and did more than a few dress alterations for the girls!

Finally, all dressed, Mr E drove our girl, myself and our little grandsons to Centennial Park for the ceremony.

It was beautiful. God had blessed the weather, and everyone was SO relaxed. The perfect wedding.

Three hours to go...

Only three hours before the wedding, and we still have a 90 minute drive ahead to get there.

Just waiting for Mr E, and then we're off.

Toes are painted, and red shoes to match...

 All dressed in the red/black/white wedding theme colours (self photo from the ensuite...not easy!)...

Family time...

Last night Kezzie, Bert and the boys came for dinner before collecting family and friends from the airport for the big day on Saturday.

I am making some of the desserts for the wedding reception and as I needed some guinea pigs to try out one of my ideas, our dinner last night was the perfect practice!

The family shouted a resounding YES to adding this onto the wedding reception menu. \o/

I'm also making a Cherry & Orange Shortcake.

Here's the crew last night, having heaps of fun...

 Bert's beard is coming off after the wedding because he has a very important interview with the recruitment board at the air force (and he'd love your prayers of support - thanks!)...

My lovely friend Vickie from Humpty Doo sent a gift to Kezzie, and she loved it. Sweet wedding bells...she said these will hang from her bed always. Thanks, Vic. :-)

Grandson Calab stayed overnight with us while everyone else went to the airport and on to the caravan park with wedding guests (they had to pick up more guests from the airport today and are now off in the church bus back home to Charters Towers to prepare for Saturday's wedding ceremony). 

It's been a long time since Calab and I have spent time 'just the two of us', so this morning we left Mr E to his work and headed off to the Tumbetin Tearooms and Palmetum. I'll let the photo diary below tell the rest of the story...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Calab was a wonderful guide through the maze of the rainforest tracks and bridges, and spent a lot of time identifying the birdlife from the pamphlet we had with us.

After two hours of walking we decided it was time to head home so he could have lunch with Pop before Kezzie arrived to take him home again.

This was a memory making day. Lovely. Will do it again. :-)
