I enjoy stitching things for my Grandchildren. It may be something simple like a pillowcase or something more elaborate like a rag doll. When I have thread and needle in hand, it just makes my heart soar with happiness.

I learned to stitch from my Mother who put things like Mary and her lamb on a flared skirt, white stitching on green fabric! Or a kitten on my pocket to match the ones on the skirt. With a mother like that, I wanted to do just as she did - and she showed me. Many years have gone by, and now I'm back to stitching old kitchen appliances in red work on feedsack towels and have a large stack collected, including yours, to work through. I love it!

WOW! 2000 followers....no wonder, your things are lovely. I have rekindled my love for regular embroidery. I used to do it all the time as a child. When I married, I started doing counted cross stitch exclusively. Now, I find it a bit tedious, so i am back to regular embroidery and I am loving it. Right now, I am working on Betsy's Closet in stitches. Can't wait to finish it!

Hi Jenny
I love all sorts of stitching but especially inspirational sayings with flowers to give as gifts. I especially love it because my mum (76) my daughter (27)and me (56)all stitch together and create not only beautiful items but beautiful memories of being together. Now we plan to teach my new granddaughter (3 mths)the joy of stitching when she is old enough and God willing there will be 4 generations stitching together.

I love stitching as a way to leave my creative art for future generations. Thanks for the chance to win your lovely pattern.

I love to stitch anything I can incorporate into a quilt because I get to blend my two favorite things, hand and machine work, into one unique project.

The best thing about stitching is that you can do it with a friend, get absolutely nothing done, but be so inspired and rejuvenated, you feel like you've accomplished heaps!....when you stitch alone, there's still the connection.... so personal but such thought for another......just love how it makes you feel when you've made something for someone else and made them smile!
Congratulations sweet girl....never doubt your fabularity!!!! xoxo Love ya

I like to stitch because I can create something that never existed before and something that can't be reproduced exactly the same ever. It's unique. Plus it's so relaxing and long after I'm gone, it will still exist and someone else will love it as much as I loved making it. I'd love to win an advance pattern. Thanks for the opportunity.

My favorite area is... anything and everything which makes a home; gathering from nature's basket, toting it's bounty into every room... from the colors of seasons change, the thunderous, threatening clouds of a spring storm, or the glisten of full moon across first frost, even the fuss of a Chickadee, who peers in at me announcing his presence. I design the simple into special, if not on paper, always in mind's eye, creating with thread and needle, paint, (from fine art to faux), write, cook, grow and preserve, picking through the past for inspiration to refurbish and/or embellish, incorporating the past with the present utilizing every medium known to me. Knitting is my solace when "other" things intrude; embroidery, crochet, beading… well, I love all handwork! Embracing country life, the silence of the Woods, the smell of basil rustling in morning's first breath, and above all, I love sharing the gifts of which I am so blessed with those whom I love.
Soon to be retired and completely beside myself with excitement, finally, after such long years of "life", the time has come for "ME"! The time for me to do all the things I love, to share, explore and experience, to learn anew, to paint, design, author, arrange and rearrange, to love in tranquility, and to savor every minute my Lord and God has reserved in my name. And... I want CHICKENS!

Wow awesome numbers. I enjoy handle sewing for the grands. Right now it is Christmas ornaments for each. I am doing a monthly applique, also. I love red work and will start silhouettes for each grand. I did silhouettes of older three in '96. I think it is time. Thanks for giveaway. Your stuff/patterns are awesome.

WOW!!! What an amazing accomplishement!! 2,000!!! Isn't is wonderful how God shows us through these type of gifts how much He loves us and agrees with the path we are on?? What an amazing and wonderful God we have!!

You asked us to answer about "what we most enjoy stitching and why". The first thing that came to my mind was all the mending that I do for my family. They come with their tears, or buttons that need replacing, or girl and boy scout patches that need sewing on. They never just drop them off. They always sit and visit over tea with me as I sew them up.

I love embroidering and making many little gifties for my family and dear friends. But it really is the stitching while visiting that means the most to me. Thank you for bringing that time to the front of my mind in such a positive and loving manner. Again, God is so good.

Best of wishes to you!

What I love most about anything sewing related is that when my mind is going a thousand miles an hour stitching calms me, slows me down and lets me get to the answer when I didn't even know there was a question. Shabby Roses was so good I'm working on a second one and the embroidery will make an excellent addition to my stack of Elefantz projects both finished and WIP.

Congratulations on 2000 followers. I am so glad I found your blog. You have been an inspiration in my life. I used to do counted cross-stitch and love the perfection and consistancy in that medium. Now I do mostly regular embroidery. Mostly backstitch, small corners on tea towels or small frameables that have inspirational sayings or themes. It's a time to be still and quiet and be with my husband in the same room, while he watches sports or movie on the TV.

Congratulations, Jenny!
I used to do crewel embroidery, ribbon embroider, I love to crochet, and I love doing small embroideries for pillows or to be framed. Stitching just calms my heart!
Looking forward to seeing what is next in store for you!

Congrats on a wonderful achievement. I stitch because it makes me happy (and also keeps my fingers out of the cookies). Thanks for sharing and for the opportunity on a wonderful draw

Hi Jenny, I just enjoy stitching, scenes, anything pleasant to look at. I like seeing things come to life with thread and now also i like stitching words. Words occupy a different spot in my head. Thanks

I like to stitch because it's soothing to the soul. Beautiful things come from those stitches as a bonus, too. Congrats on all of you accomplishments!

"What do you most enjoy stitching, and why?"

I enjoy the handwork itself, and to see the stitches come together and make something beautiful. There is just something about embroidery that makes me feel good. It is creating something with fabric and thread that seems to turn out beautifully.

Enjoy all types of embroidery with the latest being Redwork...never tire of watching the colored thread appear on the cloth as the needle goes in and out...could describe many items embroidered by hand the last 70 years.

2000 Followers! Wow! That's almost as many people who live in my town! I enjoy the peace stitching brings to my life, and love stitching whimsical designs that I can display around my home.

Hi Jenny, I love your post along with the 1999 others who follow it regularly! Though I do like to piece quilts on a machine, I enjoy handwork, mostly applique or embroidery, more than any other kind of stitching. As I see stitches come together to form the design, I get excited. It is also the most relaxing and unwinding therapy I could ever have.

Congratulations! But I am not a bit surprised dear one!! I love stitching most anything. More times than not it becomes prayer time for me. I can never get too much of that.

I have only recently gotten back into embroidery. I did a few pieces in the 70's. I think they were called crewel? I did cross stitch in the 80's and 90's but my eyes have aged to a point that counting the little squares is too hard.
I've done a few random things such as faces on dolls and things like that since then. I'm an avid quilter and have seen lots of pretty quilts with embroidery so I hope that's where I'm headed.
