Pretty sweet tutorials from others...

I love Kerryane English's style!
If you follow her blog you'll be richly rewarded with some delectable eye candy, and a few shabby and sweet projects for your home.

Today she's shared a step by step tutorial for making this pretty tea towel.
"The Shabby Little Houses on Ric Rac Street"
I know what I am going to be doing this afternoon...

Here's a couple of other projects I want to try. They look so elegant, and yet when you watch the tutorial you realise they're quite simple and can be done in an hour or less. Both are from the Thistlewood Farms blog.

Printed burlap (here)...

...and a Ribbon Button Basket (here).

Strips of burlap can be purchased cheaply on a roll at your local hardware store in the gardening section. In Australia I've found them at Bunnings for about $5. So I guess I need to take a trip there...

I was wondering something, and thought I'd ask you about it...

1. Do you like tutorials, and if so, what kind are your favourites?

2. Do you like having them just on the blog page, or would you like a tutorial available as a free pdf for you to save as well?

3. If you could choose a tutorial, what would it be?

Leave your answers in the comment section below - and thank you for taking the time to answer my questions if you do. xx

Have a great day! I'll be playing with these later...after I make the tea towel of course!

hugs

Thank you Jenny for sharing once again, you do find some great easy projects to share, very inspiring, love the tea towel. As to your questions, yes I do like tutorials, find them very helpful, as you know I am looking forward to your tutorial on fabric choices, patterns/sizes etc, colours and all that is relevant for patchwork and other similar craft/stitchery projects that have a mix of pieces etc. Also the most suitable fabrics to stitch/embroider on. At the same time find with all your tutorials learn something very helpful. A tutorial with pfd as well would be very helpful. For me personally a tutorial on putting fabric patterns/colours together for projects would be a great help, hopefully I can learn how to choose to make the most of a project. It is overwhelming when faced with rows of fabrics and there are fewer shops and help these days, at least in our area. Time for some birthday gift craft now. Have a wonderful day, Judithann :-)

I love tutorials as I am a beginner in quilting/patchwork and sewing. I love tutorials that provide you with step by step instructions and photos (as its always good to see it visually), a PDF is also great.
Love your work!

Definitely a yes from me to tutorials! I like tutorials for small projects mostly, things that I might give as gifts or include in swap packages. Would also vote for the option of a PDF version too as I often print them out to have on hand whenever I need to rustle up a quick gift.

Thanks for the links Jenny :)
I love tutorials....they're always always super helpful and I often find myself googling to find out how to do something or just to get an idea on how I may want to finish a stitched piece. Pdfs would be fantastic if you're thinking of them....I generally bookmark pages if I know I may want to get back to that specific tut...so a pdf version that I can print and file away or even just save andkeep in digital format until I need to print it would be perfect! Types of tuts? Well....I generally look at "how to" stuff! Step by step photos or pics are a great help ....I used a mix of pics and you tube to teach myself crochet a few weeks back :)

I really enjoyed the purse tutorial. I like to save tutorials so I usually copy and paste them into a word document to save them. I can't always do the work at the time the tutorial is posted and don't want them to get lost. So if you were to put them into a pdf that would be great.

That tea towel is beautiful! I love tutorials and having them in pdf format makes them so much easier to print out to follow along while sewing.

I love tutorials-like that darling tea towel. I print them out and save them in a binder so PDFs are the easiest for me to save.

I love tutorials and prefer the PDF versions. It seems that I can never find the tutorial I saw a while ago and want to use now, but PDF versions solve that. I've been loving your latest tutorials!

I loved all of these Jenny - especially the tea towels. Tea towels for anyone and baby burp pads for new moms and grandmoms are wonderful gifts and everyone loves getting them. Having a PDF file is so welcome. I keep a spiral notebook of tutorials that I know I want to use and reuse. :) blessings, marlene

I love tut's and appreciate the time and effort that goes into them. Given a choice I would like them in PDF so that I could save them and refer back as needed.

Thank you for all you do.
Love tutorials. And a pdf is always welcome as I print and keep them in a folder as well.
I always love the fabrics people use and then can not find them. So tutorial on picking similar fabrics when you can't obtain the ones shown would be great. I'm fairly new at this.
Also thank you so much for your scriptures each week. They have lifted my soul on many occasions and I can't thank you enough.

Hi Jenny
Yes me too - I like tutorials (we are so lucky that so many share their projects with us out here) and yes PDF format is great as I like to print them out and have them in a file too. I love a range of crafty things so any tutorial is welcome.

I love tutorials but would prefer to have them in pdf form. That way I can access them easier. Thank you so much for your inspirational verses and insight. They always bring a "lift" to my day.

Tutorials are great. Pdf's make things easier to find and store them in a file on my computer. I can put them in one or more sub-files for easy reference instead of trying to remember who and where and when an idea is on the web. I can then print them as needed to take with me as my computer is downstairs and sewing storage in the garage and my machine is upstairs. Not terribly convenient but that is the way it is. As for what kind of tutes how about 1 or more on how you put together blocks/designs of various sizes. Do you design the top and make the appliques/embroideries fit the spaces you made or the reverse or a combination? Also the stitch a month you started in Jan was a good idea. I've been stitching since I was 5 but newbies can print out the how-tos and take it with them on the go. I still reference stitches that I don't use very often. You always make things interesting for old hands as well as beginners. Thank you.

Tutorials are the way I find out how to do most things, sewn and otherwise. My favourite type of tutorial really depends on what I am working on at any given moment. PDF versions are great as they can be easily saved for future reference and printed when necessary. A tutorial on fabric choice is one that I desperately need. Being new to embroidery, I really love your 'stitch' tutorials too. All of your tutorials are beautifully presented, both in the written word and with lots of photos for visual learners. The time and effort that you put into your tutorials and all of your patterns and posts is truly appreciated.
