Rosebud pincushion...

On Saturday you saw the fabric and pattern I intended using to sew a pretty Rosebud block...
Well, that sweet little 6 inch block turned out exactly as I'd hoped!
I decided to add a border before finishing it as a special project for the sewing room.
A square of cotton wadding fused behind, then a bit of hand quilting...
...and all I needed to do was sew a backing square behind, fill with stuffing, and secure one of my original 1960's buttons in the middle to finish the block as a pincushion.
With my head cold not improving but increasing in severity, this little afternoon project was a calm distraction.
Four litres of ginger beer with chili helped, too.

The Rosebud block pattern can be found HERE on Rose Johnston's blog.
What would you make from it?

hugs

Lovely pincushion, Jenny. I hope you feel better soon. Have you tried Blackmores Kaloba? A family member was given that by the GP recently when he presented with cold symptoms and thought he was getting the flu. It was very effective.

Te ha quedado precioso. Quizá me anime a hacerme uno de los de Rose, pero no lo prometo, porque llevo ya tiempo con el Dear Jane y otros más. ¡Tengo mil labores a medio! Será mejor que termine unas cuantas:) Besos.

That's a cold cure I haven't heard of - sounds worse than the cold to me. =) Love the cushion, though, so your creativity isn't being damaged any.

Pretty!

Very pretty pincushion. I would probably have made a kitchen set consisting of two potholders and used a third block to make a patch pocket on an apron.

You always do such a beautiful job of your work. Can I ask a question? Do you use embroidery floss to do your hand quilting? Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration.

Jenny, so sorry that your cold is still holding on and getting worse. I will continue to keep you in my prayers! Your pincushion is a fabulous idea for smaller blocks! One I had never considered but will be doing from here on out. I have plenty of left over blocks that I just do not know what to do with. LOL. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful creative day....taking it easy and getting better! Brenda

Anne, on this project I used a single strand of embroidery thread for the quilting. On a larger project, like a mini quilt or larger quilt, I use Perle #12 thread. :-)

Lovely pincushion! The fabric is perfect. I am so sorry to hear that your cold still has you down. Allergies are getting the best of me. At least you are productive when you are sick. Things around here just go into a standstill.
