Designing a project for a magazine can be a test of patience. Paper published craft magazines are always many months ahead of schedule so a project is normally submitted up to 6 months in advance.
After a while you get used to this, but by the time the magazine comes out and your project is revealed, it seems as though half a lifetime has passed!
I am very excited today because I can finally share with you a quilt I was working on in January of this year for Homespun magazine! The magazine has hit the newstands and I quickly ran to grab a copy of my own to see how they had photographed my beautiful...
~Juliet's Rose~
As most of you know, I homeschooled my children for 11 years. From the age of six I read to them the plays of Shakespeare rewritten in story from wonderful authors such as Charles & Mary Lamb, Edith Nesbit, and later in their teenage years we read Leon Garfield's versions alongside the actual plays. We watched the plays on DVD, listened on CD, and would also make characters with Paddle-pop sticks and scraps of fabrics to stage our very own play.
We had our favourites of course ; Much Ado About Nothing, Midsummer Night's Dream, MacBeth, and naturally for Bloss and I - Romeo and Juliet.
I designed and made this quilt as a legacy of those memories.

Today I am going to thread these WELCOME hearts I made a few years back onto ribbon to hang in my daughter Kezzie's new home before she arrives next Wednesday. I pick up her house key tomorrow and that gives us a few days to add some lovely welcoming touches before they walk through the door to begin their life in our town. :-)

Before I head off to the sewing room I wanted to show you a gift that my friend Janelle gave me. She is a doll designer who took a break from designing for a number of years, but has now begun playing with laces and beads to make the prettiest shabby chic items! This mannequin is all her work and I just love it to bits!
Janelle has also taken my place at the school as the new teacher's aide in Home Ec, so I know the classes will be blessed indeed to have her skills at hand!
I'm trying to talk her into posting on her blog, so maybe you should leave a comment and encourage her too? You'll love seeing photos of what she does with bags - truly!
