Framed...

Anything that creates a wonderful memory of my Nana is a joy.
This new stitchery was designed in honour of her and yesterday I dug through my many drawers of rescued op-shop frames for one that would resepectfuly house the "Nana's Jug in Patchwork" block for display in our home.
A square blue frame waved it's invisible arms until I took notice, and when all is said and one, I think it's perfect!

I'm seriously in love with the Lecien fabrics used in the applique bricks and patchwork borders too.
"Retro 30's Child Smile" should be in fabric stores at the end of May...

This afternoon I'll be using more of the same fabrics to finish another new design as a table runner.
Once it's pieced and quilted I can add little seed beads to the centre of the flowers...
(patterns will be here inside the May Stitchery Club or available as single purchase downloads on May 18th from my shop)

I think you'll see more Nana inspired projects from me in the future.
They simply make me smile.

Just out of curiosity, what things from the past stir warm memories inside your heart?

Two new designs!

I showed you some 'in progress' photos the other day of two of my newest designs and asked which one was your favourite.
The response was overwhelmingly  'both' here on the blog, in emails, on the Elefantz Facebook page, and on Instagram, so I guess I'd better include the two of them inside my May patterns for the Stitchery Club!

Would you like to see the completed stitcheries?
Both are in memory of my Nana whose birthday would have been earlier this week, and thinking of her gave me such pleasure that I wanted to create a few designs inspired by her days as a new bride and young mother in the 30's.

The first is a small embroidery surrounded by faux patchwork squares which are simply appliqued with tiny straight stitches. "Nana's Jug in Patchwork"...

The second uses the applique inside the stitchery. This one is double the size of the design above and features tiny seed beads as the flower centres, which will be sewn in place when I finish the block as a mini quilt.
"Nana's Jug of Posies"...

Both designs feature fabrics from Lecien's new "Retro 30's Child Smile" for the applique - perfect for my Nana-memory projects.
I'll also use these fabrics to border the blocks over the next week or so.

Today I am spending time with my sweet Blossom-girl as we care for little Bob-the-dog. He had an emergency trip to the vet last night but is mending well...will update tomorrow.

Have a blessed day!
