Do Not Grow Weary + a free pattern...

I designed this stitchery a few months ago, knowing it would be the one I'd keep close to my heart during 2018.

Last year was the weariest one for me as far back as I can remember, and it may have been for you as well. When extreme physical, mental and emotional fatigue is relentless over a long period of time I sometimes find myself in the deep darkness of the night weeping before the Lord, even suggesting He relieve me of this life.

Depression sets in and I wrongly imagine my family would be better off without me because I look upon myself as a burden to them...but this is the depression talking, not God, not me when I'm in a normal mindset, so I never make life altering or big decisions when I am depressed. I wait upon the Lord to lift my countenance and like the storm He calmed on the sea, He always restores calm to my soul when I open the Scriptures and read the truth and life within.

It may take a day, it may take weeks, but He always carries me forward, assuring me that until my eyes close on this earthly life He has work for me to do and a unique purpose to fulfill, a purpose He planned before I was even born.

In one such season of weariness a few months back, I was studying the book of Galatians. Each day I'd read a small portion and let the teaching, wisdom and understanding of the Inspired words of Paul's epistle fill my mind and saturate my thoughts. When I came to Galatians 6:9 it felt as though God was pressing His finger on my heart and whispering in my ear -

"This is for you, memorise it, come back to it, trust Me in that promise."

Each day afterwards as I continued on through Galatians I would come back to this verse, and one Sunday afternoon I drew it up as a stitchery and prepared the design to embroider slowly...

With each stitch I found myself falling deeper in love with Father God, amazed at His everlasting care for me, one little person in a world of billions.

Dearest, never, ever think you do not matter to God.
You are precious in His eyes, far more precious and loved than you can ever feel about your husband, child, parent...His love is pure, complete, everlasting, encouraging, holy, and a free gift He will never take from you.

Do not give up...

....do not grow weary in doing good.

You will reap in due season.

Trust His promises, always, for they are from everlasting to everlasting and cannot be withdrawn.

I will frame this God-inspired design above my desk all year, a constant reminder of His words of life, words of direction, and words of promise for my simple life.

You know, those dark nights of my soul have become less and less the more I'm learning to rest in Him, the more I rest from my own striving and concerns and transfer each one to Jesus, who is ready with open arms to carry my burdens if I simply let them go and put my trust in Him alone.

There will always be occasions when my first instinct is to panic or try and plan a solution to a new crisis or challenge but Jesus will remind me to stop, breathe, make a conscious decision to hand it all to Him in prayer, and to rest while I wait for the right answer or direction to become clear.

Already this new year has proved challenging in a few areas, but I know Who holds my future path in His care and that there is no reason to carry concern or worry.

My prayer today is that you rest in Him, that you hand over to Jesus the problems, concerns, loneliness, needs, misunderstandings and all those things which weigh heavy on your heart...and trust Him to carry you lovingly and deliberately through each and every one.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good for in due season we will reap if we do not give up."
Galatians 6:9

Free Stitchery, and something else...

If you're a long time reader of Elefantz you'll know that I get my greatest joy from bringing Scriptures to life in needle and thread.
This is the first one for 2015, and it was inspired by my desire to keep a record of all the Domestic Reflections I share with you each Sunday on the blog over the coming year.

Isaiah 40:8  "...the word of our God shall stand forever."

This is a free stitchery pattern during the month of January...

...and you're welcome to download it HERE from my shop.

It's only small so will stitch up fairly quickly at just 3" x 4".

I don't know how you will use your stitchery when you make it, but mine is gracing the cover of a small A6 spiral bound journal with blank pages. Mr E found it for me at Officeworks for just $2, and it was perfect for my needs.

On the first page I drew the month and a little design...

Then I printed up a small copy of the first Domestic Reflection I shared last Sunday (Proverbs 31:13) and used double sided tape to secure it on the next page...

I will write my personal thoughts under the Scripture too, as this will be one way of remembering what God is teaching me in Scripture through...

If you'd like to do something similar I will be sharing a complimentary pdf download of each Sunday's Domestic Reflection that you can print up and use.
It will have a small copy for a project like my Memory Verse Journal, as well as a full page version you may like to display in a frame or keep on your fridge.
By year's end we'll have 52 verses memorised!

You can download last Sunday's file HERE (it's not in my shop), and if you think either the stitchery or the print out will encourage a friend please invite them to drop over here to my blog as I'll be sharing more Christian themed designs throughout the year.

Have a lovely and relaxing weekend, and don't forget to look at your home with fresh eyes as you never know what wonderful ideas will spring to mind!
I'll be back on Sunday with a new Domestic Reflection, then we'll be in the kitchen for a look see at what I've doing with my pantry on Monday,

Free Christmas design for you!

It's a double blessing Monday for all my Elefantz readers!

Each year I love to create designs that bring glory and honour to my Lord, and in 2014 there have been many Scripture based embroideries and projects shared here on Elefantz, the largest endeavour being the 26 week-long Lord's Prayer Quilt.

Today I have the first Monday blessing to give you - block 21 of the Lord's Prayer Quilt...

This block completes the sixth row of the quilt. Coming along nicely....

Download Block 21 (as well as the first free 20 blocks) HERE.
How are you coming along with stitching this quilt?
Mine is quilted and waiting for the binding, so very soon I can show you!

The second Monday blessing is a sweet set of Christmas stitcheries that celebrate the true gift and meaning of this wonderful time of celebration...

This set is my free Christmas gift to *you* dear reader.

You can download it HERE and may I ask that if you are on Facebook or Instagram that you share this free link as well? I'll have it posted on those pages for you to do so.
To share on Pinterest just hover over the photos on this page and a 'pin it' button will appear.

By sharing like this it becomes a gift that keeps giving and giving...xx

Email me your photos when you stitch them so I can share them here on the blog, ok?

Have a blessed and stitchy week everyone,
hugs

Block 16 and some revisiting!

Over the next month I'm going to be removing some patterns from my shop (here) and restocking the shelves with some old favourites that haven't been seen for a while, as well as some brand new designs I've been working on behind the scenes.

Today I added these two old sweeties!

"Lavender Fields Forever"
This little pillow measures just 4.5" x 7" and is filled with lavender flowers and regular cushion stuffing. Placed on display near an open window the lavender fragrance that fills the room is incredible!
It would also be a really cute pincushion...

"True Peace"
I designed this free stitchery last year as a joyful and bright reminder of where my true peace comes from.
The pattern is for the stitchery only, but I chose to use it as a pocket for a Bible/Journal bag...

...and of course, I'm sharing Block 16 of the "Lord's Prayer" Quilt free as well!

NOTE: I have spelled trespass wrong in this block, not even noticing when I drew it up and stitched it.
Please omit the extra 's' when you trace it. I will update the pattern tomorrow.

"trespass against us"

If you are looking for the first free 15 blocks of the "Lord's Prayer" quilt they are now divided between three patterns of five blocks each...

All these patterns are HERE in the shop now.

Have a blessed day!
I'm off to finish my Shabby Roses Churn Dash quilt! \o/...

Block 5 and two rows finished...

You can download Block 5 of The Lord's Prayer Stitchalong here from my shop today.

"Be Thy Name" is the last block in the second row of what will become an eight row wall quilt when we have completed all 26 blocks...

If you've been stitching the blocks and following the border instructions I put in each week's pattern you can now sew blocks 2-5 together to form the second row, then join it to the first row...

How are your blocks coming along?

Here are this week's photos emailed to me by readers who are stitching along...

Christina has her fabrics and threads chosen and is ready to begin...lovely and bright!

Jessica is stitching THREE quilts - a burgundy set of blocks, a red & grey set, and she's just traced blocks for a red & white set too...wow!

We'd love to see your photos too, so why not email them to me so I can share them here on the blog next Monday.

I think these blocks are a perfect start to each week, don't you?
Have a blessed day, dear friends!

Block 3 ~ Lord's Prayer Stitchalong...

I'm sharing block 3 today, "which art in heaven"...

It's been a beautiful experience, to stitch this prayer. As it is broken up into 26 separate embroideries there is time during the stitching of each block to ponder the words Jesus gave us to pray.

If you prefer a different Bible translation or language to the one I am using you will find my alphabet in the pattern to trace your own preference.

How are you going with the blocks? Have you stitched the first two yet?
Nancy Jo sent me a photo of the fabrics and threads she will be using to make her version. Aren't they lovely?!

She has chosen fabrics from Laundry Basket Quilts, and threads from Cottage Garden. This will be beautiful when it's completed, Nancy Jo.

I'm off my feet at the moment with an injury just behind and below my right knee. Actually, I injured it about three weeks ago when Mr E and I were on our mini holiday in Cairns, but I thought it would be better by now.
Instead, it's gotten worse, so today I'm off to the doctor. Walking has become a nightmare. I'd really appreciate your prayers. xx

Naturally this means I'm getting a fair bit of hand stitching done, but no block piecing.
Who'd have imagined a few months back that I'd be missing the process of quilt making so much.
Times do change...
