The girls come to stitch!

On Friday morning I prepared the table for a visit from Barb & Heather who were coming over to stitch for the day. You see, Wendy has been away living the high life in Brisbane with lots of friends at Let's Get Stitched so we three left behind decided to have some sewing fun ourselves!

It's been ages since I brought out this treasured vintage table cloth...

...but I knew the girls would appreciate the beauty and fine stitching displayed across it.

In fact Heather kept putting her glasses on for closer inspection.
This exquisite cloth was a $3 purchase years ago from an op-shop. It was badly stained with large yellow areas but Blossom gave me some wonderful stuff to soak it in and the cloth returned to almost 100% white in the un-stitched linen areas.
Isn't it precious?

Well, we girls did exactly as I predicted in my post the other day - we laughed ourselves silly all day long...

...but we truly did achieve some stitching between coffee, biscuits, tea, lunch, and 'afters'.

Barb is stitching a whole pile of Sparrow blocks for Operation Sparrow (learn about that HERE)!

She started this one in gorgeous Cottage Garden "Tulip" thread...

...and only needed to add the wording by the end of the day.

Heather was also stitching with the pretty "Tulip" thread, and she too had an almost completed project by home time...

I was working on the final design for next week's Stitchery Club patterns, and this is as far as I got by mid-afternoon...

As always, stitching, laughing and sharing a meal with my friends is a true tonic for a joyful heart!

NEWS: Visit Heather's blog HERE because she has a giveaway!

Today I'm back to work on the "HOME" design.
If only I could keep my eyes down and my mind on track, but I'm watching the Great British Sewing Bee while I stitch and my attention strays...oh, but the fun! I love that show!

Have a brilliant weekend!
hugs

What a lovely day. The tablecloth is gorgeous! Where-o-where can I get some of the lovely tulip embroidery thread that you showed? I'm having no luck with Google. Thanks for sharing your day with me.

That cottage garden thread 'tulip' is very pretty. Think that might have to be my next purchase. The vintage cloth is gorgeous and the table setting for the girls so welcoming. So glad you had such a wonderful day.

Liebe Jenny,
ich muß einmal einen Kommentar auf Deutsch schreiben und ich hoffe, Du kannst ihn übersetzen.
Das Tischtuch ist ja wunderschön und das Geschirr ist zauberhaft ! So richtig gemütlich ! Und dann noch der nette Besuch ! Wie gerne hätte ich bei Euch am Tisch gesessen und mit genäht ! Aber von Deutschland aus ist es leider zu weit. Und so schöne Sachen habt Ihr genäht und gestickt.
Viele Grüße an alle
Ich wünsche Euch ein schönes Wochenende
Hier ist es kalt, die Sonne scheint heute nicht, es regnet.
Liebe Grüße
Käthe

First, your post makes me want to pull out my tablecloths and call friends over. And use my Rose tea set, will have to make plans to do so, when things calm down here.

What a great day! Not only is the tablecloth beautiful, but I love your dishes, too. The thread your friends were using is wonderful. I'll have to see if I can find that somewhere. It just says, "Touch me, stitch with me, I'll make you happy!" =) No food pictures this time! Your newest design is coming along beautiful, and love it on that background. Very domestic looking. =)
