I truly enjoy stitching all my designs but some of them carry personal significance, like this one.
Every part of the process from sketching to preparing fabrics and choosing threads, and especially the time given to embroidery and adding the little extras that brought my original idea to life, is seasoned with a piece of me.
Memories, hopes, sorrows, celebrations, laughter, tears, surprises, faith, family, love.
I've named Block 2 "Home In My Heart" because that's where home truly is.
It's not a house, it's a feeling called HOME...a very real and tangible feeling built over time by the people who have shared my life, generously giving their love and receiving mine.
It's also a happy design, colourful yet gentle, just like my family.
Families are like recipes.
Each ingredient different but when mixed together in the right quantities you have something quite delicious!
I wasn't sure how this block would be displayed after I stitched it, so it was left in my sewing room for a few days where I could walk back and forth rather often and ponder the next step in it's journey.
It was whilst sorting through some empty photo frames kept in a box under our bed that the idea for framing it came to pass and then progressed to making a fabric heart window...
A while ago I shared THIS tutorial for displaying stitcheries behind fabric windows and if you'd like to do the same thing with your block when you've completed it just follow that.
Instead of a circle you'll need to trace a heart.
I drew a line about 1/2" outside the heart on my pattern sheet and used that as the stitching line.
As you can tell, I have sewn rows of fabric together for a striped fabric window, but you could use a single fabric if you didn't want to go to too much trouble.
In the tutorial I sewed the fabric window over the stitchery with a running stitch but for this project I have used a blind stitch, as you would for needle-turn applique or for sewing down hexies...
I'm thrilled with how my block has turned out and have the framed design on display in our home where it shall stay always, no matter what house we live in.
Now I must return my attention to completing the patterns for the March issue of The Stitchery Club!
There are seven this month, a nice bumper garden issue.
The seven stitcheries are ready for pattern writing, however I am still working on bringing the four 'herb' designs together as a cushion project which will also be included in the March issue.

I'm going to take a little blogging break for the rest of the week as another migraine is brewing and more than anything some slowing down and rest is needed, so I hope you enjoy the free pattern and if you have some fresh ideas on how you'll be displaying your version please share them in the comments below because we all love to be inspired...
be blessed,

Please take care of yourself and I do hope the nasty migraine stays away. What you say about "home" is so true and your design reflects that feeling. I love how you have created a heart shaped window for it. It is a while since I have used that method so I may take a peek at your tutorial. I am so loving your March stitchery club designs and the herbs look amazing. Me thinketh I may "need" to purchase it. ( not that I have had much time to stitch lol).I am sending you many angel healing hugs.

I hope you get some much needed rest, Jenny. Thank you for sharing your beautiful designs with us and for the encouragement I receive from the sharing you do from your heart. Hugs, Nancy
The home block is heart-touching and precious, Jenny. I like the final framing with the blue wooden frame. Such an heirloom treasure! Thank you so much for this pattern. The stitching at the top reminds me of curtains in a home, too. Then the March stitcheries! By the time I start my Jenny-bird quilt, it's going to have to be a king size! =) I look forward to the coming month's club. I hope your finger is feeling much better today.
Brilliant finish, darling girl - love it so much, and the gorgeous new patterns for the stitchery club! Please get some rest hon, be still and breathe - I'm praying this migraine poops out before it gets bad. Love you!
Oh dear,Jenny. Praying that this migraine will be short lived and that the Lord will give you relief from the pain. The new designs are beautiful. I love the herb ones. Keep the faith.

Hi Jenny. God Bless you for the wonderful work you do and the beautiful words. I feel quite at home reading and enjoying your page.
I am a bit confused (my apologies because this is probably a very silly question but my disability and health problems mean I have difficulty understanding due to a tumour in my brain).
I joined last month but i may have missed my stitcheries or not realized where to find them, also do I need to use my credit card for the new year or do you automatically debit the card on file.
Thankyou. I do have trouble trying to do things but I won't give in. The Lord gave me another glorious day and I have enjoyed every blessed minute of it. I just wish I could reach someone the way you can, Such a gift..
May I ask if I pay the costs incurred would you be able to send me printed copies of the monthly stitcheries? I don't have a printer so I try to recreate them by hand.
Ok my dear sister in Christ, may God Bless you and make his face to shine upon you.
Hi Lorraine,
I do hope you received the patterns I sent on the 15th?
I emailed you the gift pattern on September 12th, and the September issue of the Club on the 15th (this usually arrives on the 17th but we are moving house so I sent it two days early).
Have you checked your spam or junk email folders? They may be in there.
Let me know, okay?
