Overwhelmed...

Seasons of overwhelm are normal for all of us.
Some last a short time whilst others press in for far longer.

My own life this past month has increasingly stretched my reserves until right now I'm in a season of physical and mental overwhelm.

And what I have noticed this past week is that rather than pressing in closer to seek counsel, comfort and understanding from God's Word, I've spent less time than usual in His presence.

I've prayed much more for others as I go about my day or lay awake in the night, yet I did not often pray for myself, nor soaked in the Words of Life as I should.

Today's Scripture is one the Lord brings me back to whenever I tend to stray off course and get distracted to the point that I'm weary and overwhelmed by extra requests others make on me and which I feel unable to decline, or become so busy 'doing' that I forget to just 'be still'  in His presence and allow God's perfect peace to refresh me.

So as I close this post today I'm going to pour myself a long cool glass of ginger water and go sit in a quiet spot to open the Psalms and listen while God speaks into my heart exactly what I need to hear.

It's never too late to stop, turn around and run to Him so if you're overwhelmed too, let's both be led back to "the ROCK that is higher than I"  for some heavenly refreshing.

Bless you heaps,

Yesterday was like that except I started it with Mass, and it helped tremendously me getting through the day.

We have been rejoicing around here since Thursday night. Jayme Closs a 13 yr old girl who lived less than an hour from here was found after her parents were murdered and she was kidnapped from her home 88 days before. The case is still unfolding and details aren't yet known as to why it happened. This is frightening and depressing and whole communities in this area have been on edge. There was little evidence to go on but prayers have been for God to comfort Jayme in her circumstances, make an opportunity for her to get free from her captor and to lead her to people who could help her find her way back home. That's exactly what happened Thursday night! Praise the Lord, prayers were answered, we witnessed a miracle. She's in the loving care of family and community now who can walk the journey of healing with her. We know that with God all things are possible. Grandma Rita

Jenny

Thank you for sharing this. This is exactly where I have been for some time now and I know God has used you to remind me what that I need to crawl into His lap again, lean my head on His chest, and rest in Him. God bless you for your willingness to be so real.

May the Lord bless you today as you seek to be back in the center of His will. We are so blessed that He is always waiting for us, with open arms, when we stray from His path. May you be filled with His peace and purpose as His word is lamplight unto your feet. We do tend to throw ourselves into the busyness of being busy, even in our prayer time...so busy talking that we forget to listen. Lord, give us ears to hear...You!

Sorry for your distress. We all have these moments when it all seems to over take us and we need to dig out from under. Your posts are always spirit lifting.

Thank you Jenny for those words just when I needed them. 5 weeks ago my husband unexpectedly had open heart surgery when we thought he was going to have a hip replacement. Then the day before Christmas our daughter who had been fighting a long battle with cancer went in to hospital and passed away on 28th Dec so I have been felling a bit overwhelmed.

Wise words you have shared here today. We all sometimes get so wrapped up in prayer for others and forget to take that one-on-one time with our Heavenly Father.

It's a wonderful scripture, Jenny. No worries. When you forgot to pray for yourself, I was praying for you. =) The Lord knows your heart. He knew you would be back. He also knew your hands were needed to do His work. Charity never faileth and it is well with him who is found possessed of it at the last day. Be kind to yourself. You have proved his trust in you is not misplaced. I know you had a wonderful time with Him today. I'll bet He told you to pace yourself a bit more. ;)

I know what you mean, a dear friend sent me this verse and has helped so much,
' Come with me by yourself to a quiet place and get some rest' Mark 6 31b
