I love to create a new pattern for you at this time of year which focuses solely on the truest Gift we can ever receive.
At the weekend I was pottering around in the kitchen and stopped in my tracks as these words were heavily impressed upon my heart - "Holy is His name"...and then I knew exactly what this end of year design would be.
I mention this each Christmas season, but for those who are new here, I'll mention it anew.
In our family Jesus is celebrated every day. He wasn't born on December 25th, more likely sometime in September by historical accounts, and even though it is wonderful to embrace this season with carols and gift giving, family and hospitality, being a Bible believing Christian is a day to day celebration of the greatest gift ever given to man by God...His Son, Jesus, our Saviour, Redeemer and Lord.
Let me encourage you to slow your 'to-ing and fro-ing' this month, to step back a little from the hustle and bustle, and to look with fresh eyes at the Glorious One your heart and thoughts should be gazing upon in awe and wonder.
His is the name above all names, and each day serving Jesus is a perpetual gift to us from the Father on High, because every good and perfect gift is from Him...and we know Jesus is that good and perfect gift beyond all others.
I love singing genuine Christmas carols about Jesus any time of year, not the ones which glorify a lie (i.e. santa), but I enjoy them more regularly through December, so as I go about my gentle domestic tasks this month the beautiful songs about Jesus' birth will fill the air. What is your favourite carol? Mine is Night Divine. :-)

Thank you for this lovely Christmas stitchery gift. My all time favorite Christmas song is "Joy to the World". It truly does bring joy to know that "the Lord has come"; "the Saviour reigns"; "HE rules the world with truth and grace". Even when it seems like the world is out of control and we don't understand why He allows the evil that is in the world, we can be assured that HE is in control. That assurance can bring a gentle comforting peace if we allow it.

Thanks for the beautiful embroidery pattern. My favorite Christmas song is "O Come all Ye Faithful". I seem to sing that one year-round. Thank you also for the lovely message. Your many messages regarding simplicity and domesticity have encouraged me to slow down and look around instead of hurrying thru life. I thank you for that. Thank you for the lovely new project. I love listening to and playing Handel's "Messiah" anytime of the year since it starts with the prophecy of Jesus' coming and goes through his triumphant reign. As traditional carols go, "Once in Royal David's City" is probably my top favorite as it too goes from birth to resurrection. I also love the message in, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear." And last, but not least, I love the message and power in, "O, Holy Night."

That is one of my favorite carols, too. I just enjoyed listening to Handel's Messiah again and am blessed that frequently I catch myself humming parts of it as I work. It lifts my spirit.

There's a song in our hymn book called 'Far. Far Away on Judea's Plains', that just makes Christmas for me. I also love a song called 'Mary's Lullaby'. Our ward choir sang that every year for years, when I was able to sing 2nd soprano, it was my very favorite love song from Mary to her newborn son. I'll send you links, because I know you will love the lullaby. There's one called 'Silver Bells' (Bing Crosby) which isn't a hymn, but was a favorite of my mother's and so is a favorite carol of mine. I love the hymns best, though.
Thank you so much for this stitchery. It's wonderful, and goes along with what I've been studying. I've been doing an advent of 25 of the names of Christ, where they are found in scripture and what the significance is. That's just a drop in the bucket of how many there are, but it's so special to think about one of them each day, concentrating on that name, and that gift of Christ. I think this coming year, as I grow stronger, I will make one of these for several friends.
