Good morning my friends,
If you watch the news in Australia, you've probably heard of another cyclone about to hit the east coast in my part of the tropics. Well, as of this morning the Bureau of Meteorology have the cyclone track model hitting Townsville where I live.
(below, updated on January 25th...)
As most of you know we went through a flood in 2019, just after we bought our home, and have fought a few heavy wet season deluges since then. We have four electric pump wells in our front and back yards which have kept water out of the house during heavy storms, but a cyclone is different, with an enormous amount of rain hammering the land below in a short period of time. We aren't sure our pump wells will cope this time, as even last month they struggled with a very heavy storm system.
If we lose power, the pumps won't work at all, so we have that concern weighing on our minds as well. Anyhow, there's a lot of people facing this along our coastline and further inland as well, so please keep them in your prayers. The cyclone is expected to hit late Thursday night (Queensland, Australia time) so between then and now it's all about getting prepared, moving things to safe places, tying stuff down, checking off our essential supplies list, and being mindful that we could be without electricity for days so I'm putting together a pantry of non-perishables to get us through. We are to expect ten days of rain after the cyclone, which may mean highways cut off, rivers breaching their banks, and people isolated as the water will take over.
No matter if the cyclone hits you or not, the most important thing is to prepare as though it will, because if you don't you could be in a dire situation should the worst happen.
So I'm delaying sharing the beginnings of a year-long recipe book project, and further blog posts, until the situation has passed. I know you'll be praying - thank you.
My friend's sorrowful loss has caused me to remember just how fragile life is, yet how too often we take it, and the people we love, for granted. Don't hold back from saying "I love you", and make a choice to focus on the people in your life, and the joys our simple ordinary days have to offer if we just take the time to look. This life is a precious gift which we should unwrap it every day and offer thanks for as we do not know what tomorrow will bring.
God bless you dear ones...and God willing I will be back to chat again soon.
Hugs

Praying for you and your family's safety and for the preservation of your beautiful home. Also holding your friend in prayer...God is good and is able to bear our burdens and give us extra grace in the time of sorrow. I pray he was a believer ... and if so, that should give her comfort in this time of loss.
I pray the Good Lord will protect you, your family, and your homes. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's loss. May God comfort her as only He can.
Praying for you and your family, and others in the area of the cyclone. May the Almighty God hold you in the palm of his hand. And may the God of all comfort be very near to your friend.
Take care Jenny & family. My niece, great niece & her family are all in Townsville. They are preparing & have bottles of water frozen in the freezer so it acts as an “Esky” to keep food longer, if the power goes out. Adele is due to start her night shift as a nurse at 10pm Thursday night, so is mindful of driving safely to work. Stay safe. Annette
Lifting you, your family and your community (and Adele) up to the throne room. Praying for safety for all of you. I am praying that the cyclone will not be as powerful as they are now saying it might be. Also remembering your friend tonight praying for God’s comfort.
God be with you all at this time - and especially with your dear friend in her grief. Love and prayers ❤️🙏
Love and prayers Jennifer for you, your family and neighbours at a very worrying time. xx

Praying for a hedge of protection for all of you!
Praying for the safety and well-being of your family, Jennifer! So sorry for your friend’s loss. I heard something that was quite comforting recently when a friend of mine passed on Sat., she was only 54 and her family is just devastated. I told them, too, they have not lost her, she has “arrived” at her destination and awaits their reunion. Small comfort for a grieving family, but does give hope!
Hopes and prayers for you all, we're also having storms in Denmark right now and for the next 6 days to come also with lots of rain. . Stay safe and hunker down as much as possible. Hugs from Lone in Denmark 🥰🥰
Sending much love & heartfelt prayers for you & your families safety Jennifer ... for the safety of all those affected in the area.

Dear Jennifer, I am praying for you and your husband's safety and for your home to withstand the storm. Prayers for all in the storms path uplifted also.
May our Lord God provide comfort to your sweet friend and her family in the passing on of her dear dear husband and that her needs would be met now and in the many days to come. Yes life is so fragile here on this earth and though we know the future, the loss is so heart-rending as we miss those we love so dearly.
Sending love and hugs,

Thank you for sharing this situation with us. It is so good to know how to pray for our sisters in Christ.
Abba Father, I pray now for Jennifer and her dear husband in the path of the cyclone. I pray that the water does not flood their home, and that they are kept safe during and in the aftermath of the storm. Give them Your wisdom to know what to prepare. I thank You for Your mercy towards them even now. Thank You that You love them so much and You care for them even in the storm. Asking in Jesus' precious name, Amen
Be safe, Jennifer. Hold on tight to God's hand!
Best,
Joan

Praying for you and your family during this difficult time. Also praying for your dear friend. I know that feeling of being completely shattered, my husband of 39 years passed away 8 months ago in May of this last year. Praising God for his faithfulness and for the strength and comfort that holds me daily. I pray blessings and comfort and peace that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide for all of you during this tumultuous time.
Holding you close in his care,
