With just a couple of weeks left in 2024, and my husband on his two-week summer work break, it's the perfect time to write the last blog post for the year. I want to spend these next couple of weeks enjoying each day with him, being free to explore the countryside and our beloved Australian outback on our sunrise drives (when the tropical sun isn't quite so fierce), doing a few home maintenance jobs together (me mostly handing him a cool drink or perhaps a hammer), longer Bible studies after breakfast, trying some new recipes I've been working on, as well as doing a few things on our own - he has started a new online course, and I have a lot of plans on paper for Elefantz that need to come to life.
We always go for a long drive at the weekend, to quiet places where we can mentally rest and just enjoy God's Creation. Last weekend we drove south to Alva Beach, a protected turtle nesting spot for Green and Loggerhead Turtles.
With all the rain we've had so far this wet season the cicadas are everywhere, and their outer shells can be found all over the beachside tree trunks.
We're spending Christmas Eve with Blossom, Ross and the children, and Christmas Day it will be just the two of us - which we do not mind at all. I'll make the main foods for our Christmas Eve gathering, and simpler things for hubby and I to enjoy the next day. Lately we've been watching some 'new to us' Christmas movies, older ones, like "It's a Wonderful Life". How odd that we'd never watched it before, but what a special movie! It will be a regular every year from now on.
I returned three of my recent reads to the library, and as I mentioned recently, they were all books set in WW2 England. I loved every one! The author of the three novels below is Jennifer Ryan and I highly recommend them all. It wasn't easy finding her books as there's another author called Jennifer Ryan (who writes cowboy romances - no thanks), but eventually I got three from the library, purchased another (The Kitchen Front) and listened to the fifth on audio.
As much as I loved making those two tiny Tilda bears for Rafaella, I decided not to continue with any more, because, in my computer files I came across a pattern set I bought a few years back for a tiny bunny, with full wardrobe and a bedding basket.
Rafaella loves to dress dolls in a variety of clothes, and she also loves to dress up in the many flower-girl frocks I find at op shops, so I knew just having a change of skirts for the Tilda dolls wouldn't be as much fun as a wardrobe of different clothes for a tiny bunny. The bunny is 5.75" tall...
...and is simply adorable.
The outfits consist of dungarees, two styles of sundress and a jacket. They are fiddly to start with, but once I'd made a couple I couldn't stop (and there's more traced and ready to sew tonight)...
Adorable, right?! I still need to make the bedding basket, but first I have one more gift to finish for Cully May. Charlie David's gifts are made already, so I think I'm on track to have everything wrapped and ready to bless the grandkids with on Christmas Eve.
If you're after this set of Bunny patterns, I bought them HERE from a blogger in Europe, so you'll need to use her translate bar. She has loads of small doll patterns to choose from, but I can't remember how I bought them. I thought it was through Etsy, but I can't see an Etsy shop button on her blog.
I long for a Northern Hemisphere winter, but the closest I can get is to use these fragrances in the diffuser each day. My favourites are Balsam Cedar and Winter Pine. It really added to the atmosphere when we watched It's a Wonderful Life. :-)
And I ended up sewing five Christmas cushion covers from that fabric I showed you recently. They added a lovely festive charm to the living/dining room, and with the tree all shiny and twinkling at night, old decorations full of memories scattered around, and some hot chocolate to sip on, I've been able to create a lovely sense of Christmas joy each evening. My husband loves it too.
We've been listening to Christmas carols over breakfast, and also enjoyed watching the live A Drummer Boy concert on YouTube one evening. I'll link it below...

Praying for Blossom to find a beautiful place to live. Enjoy your time away….you will be missed.
What a beautiful place to drive to. Love the little rabbit and her gorgeous wardrobe of clothes. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas Jennifer and I hope that all will work out well for Blossom and family. xx
What a lovely Christmas gift! LOVE the little play clothes for the bunny & I know your little granddaughter will, too. Prayers will continue for Blossom and her family, as well as for the both of you. I've almost finished the first 2 of 4 quilts. The first 2 for our grandchildren (15 & 17, the eldest is preparing to join the Air National Guard reserves & start university next year). The others are going to 2 girls who have mothers who are less than ideal. Our daughter has one living with her (her mother moved to a different town years ago & left her daughter to fend for herself, from age 12!) Her daughter has been going from house to house for years, sleeping on the sofa of her friends. She is the most mature teenager I've ever met - very good grades, does a lot of sports at school - just a lovely girl. She now has her own room in our daughters home & is such a great role model for our granddaughter. The other lives part time with her great grandparents, and part time at our daughters. Please say a prayer for our daughter - she receives no funds to support the 2 extra girls, but can't let them fend for themselves. Money is extremely tight for her, but she's making it work with help from time to time from us. Merry Christmas to you, Jennifer! Deb / California
Yes, prayers for Blossom and her family and the search of a new home.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, have nice days with your husband.

Thank you, Jennifer, for your love and care and prayers in this year for your readers too.
Many blessings with Christmas
and a Happy New Year.
Praying for you all, and for a new, affordable home for Ross & Blossom and their family.

Your post today bought back a special memory for me dear Jennifer. When I was younger, probably about Cully May's age, money was very tight in our household & one Christmas my mum sewed me a shoe box full of clothing for my Cindy doll. She even knitted little jumpers & hats for her, made dresses, skirts, a jacket ... it was filled to the brim. I have a vivid memory of sitting on my parents bed on Christmas morning, lifting the lid & the tissue paper & thinking that my heart might burst as I was so filled with Joy. I think Raphaela may well feel the same with your gift. Xx 💗💕
Love your post & I will be praying for Blossom and family to find an affordable home. One year for Christmas, my two cousins and I wanted Barbie dolls. They hadn't been on the market that long and were expensive. I remember the clothes being expensive also. So, I thought we would never get the dolls. We did get them for Christmas and my mom made clothes for all of our dolls. I'll never forget the joy and surprise as I recognized that Barbie and I had outfits from the same material. Best Christmas ever!! I'm sure Raphaela will remember this Christmas also.

Deb, I have been praying for your daughter since reading this comment earlier today. God bless her!!
Dear Jenny - I will be praying for Blossom and her family in their search for housing. The little bunny and clothes are just so cute! Your grandchildren are so lucky to have a grandmother who is so talented and skilled! If you haven't seen the (old) movies White Christmas and Holiday Inn - you might enjoy them. Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas. Linda from Alabama
Hi Jenny!
I love your blog! Just reading it fills my heart and soul with peace and joy! I am so glad that you decided not to give it up!
I love your little bunny and all the cute little clothes you made for it. Your Granddaughter is going to be thrilled.
I will be praying for Blossom and family to be led to the perfect house for them. I will be excited to read in your next blog just how God works all the details out for He is most certainly a wonderful Heavenly Father and He will take care of this!
I hope that you and your family have a beautiful and blessed Christmas.
It’s A Wonderful Life is my favorite movie! I try to watch it every year.
God bless and keep you! Looking forward to your January posting! Thank you Jenny!
I, too, will be praying for Blossom and her family! Merry CHRISTmas to you, your hubby, and Blossom and family. You have blessed me over and over through the years and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hi Jennifer,
Weather ststistics here - it's the 10th day in a row with out sunshine. Who measures these things ? I guess they have never lived in British Columbia , Canada :)
At least we get day light, not like those living way farther north .
No problems here though. There is enough to keep me busy indoors. Handwork, Christmas things, Internet :)
Hoping for Blossom and a new rental soon :)
It's wonderful to see your photos of day trips in the sun :)
Hugs, take care,
see you here in the new year :)
Joanne
What a lovely post, Jennifer - I do love reading your blog - it is a real blessing and reminder to slow down a bit - my mind does not believe that my body is in it's mid-seventies...
Praying for Blossom to be able to find an appropriate and fitting rental - always a worry when renting.
Your weekend and sunrise drives are look and sound to be a great idea - taking time away simply to be with God in His creation
Blessings
Maxine

Sorry I’m anonymous but it wouldn’t let me sign in … anyway thank you so much for your beautiful post I do enjoy reading them 💓 have a wonderful Christmas and may God bless you and your family. Just live your bunny’s too. Blessings Kerryn Wright 🙏💓
The bunny and outfits are just delightful. She will be thrilled with them. My gran used to sew and knit all of the clothes for my dolls and toys, it was so much cheaper than buying them. I still have some in the loft. My absolute favourite item she made was a red velvet cape like Little Red Riding Hood, it was lined with blue satin and tied with red ribbons. I still have it and the doll which she made it for.
Dear Jennifer, thank you for your wonderful posts and sharing your family with us. You are an inspiration. Keeping all of you in my thoughts. Merry Christmas.
I will keep you, your husband and your family in my prayers. The bunny doll really caught my eye and I went to the blog, then to her shop but couldn't manage to purchase it. I wish there was a U.S. shop that carried it. Oh well, I will have to stick with the Tilda dolls for now. Merry Christ-mas to you and your family, dear Jenny! Enjoy your two weeks with your husband!

I love the bunny and especially all the play clothes. How fun! I pray you and your husband will have a wonderful holiday and time to spend with each other. And I'm praying for Blossom's family to find a new rental.
Dearest Jennifer,
I am praying for Ross & Blossom and the children to find a nice rental that will meet all of their home requirements. Wishing you and Mr. E a wonderful Christmas and holy season.
Praying for a rental for Ross and Blossom! Those are adorable little bitty dresses! Merry Christmas and God's abundant blessings throughout the New Year.
Hugs,

I know Rafaella is going to love your little bunny and all the cute little clothes you made for it.
I will be praying for Blossom and family to be led to the perfect house for them. I will be excited to read in your next blog just how God works all the details out.
I pray that you and your family have a beautiful and blessed Christmas.
I just had to order the bunny pattern. It is adorable. I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old great granddaughter. They will love the bunny and clothes. Did you sew these by hand or on the sewing machine? You are a blessing to m when I read the things going on in your life. Have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year .
Merry Christmas. I have older movies to recommend: "Holiday" with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn, "It Happened on Fifth Avenue" with Charlie Ruggles, "Christmas in Connecticut" with Barbara Stanwyck, and "Miracle On 34th Street" with Maureen O'Hara and Natalie Wood.
Thank you for the inspiring posts Love the bunnies but grandkids are too big now. Will be praying for Blossom and family to find just the right home. Pray you have a blessed Christmas.
The bunny and all the clothes are exquisite! Just gorgeous. Your Christmas plans sound beautiful. Thank you Jenny for all of your uplifting posts and images. Have a very Blessed Christmas!! xxxx
Your gifts for you grand children will be loved so much. That bunny is darling! and the clothes! It brings back such wonderful memories of my mom who would make Barbie clothes for my dolls. I never realized at the time that she was using bits and pieces of fabric that she had - never knowing she and dad could not afford to actually buy the Barbie clothes. I guess we never realize how richly blessed we were!
I'll definitely be praying for Blossom and her family. My oldest and her family have been renting for many years and finally have found a home of their own.
The focus of the sermons at our church are called Christmas Interrupted starting with Zachariah, then Mary and Joseph, and then the shepherds. It seems to be the year of interruptions doesn't it? Thankfully we have and serve a God who never leaves us hanging. Blessings to you and yours.
Thank you so much for this lovely post Jennifer. I'm praying for Blossom and her lovely little family.
It's a Wonderful Life is one of the most inspiring films ever made. I still have ancient video of it. Another of my favourites is Harvey, James Stewart really was one of the most wonderful actors.
I remember when I was young and money was tight, I made my daughter clothes for a tiny doll. There was also a pillow and quilt and a little cot out a plastic ice-cream carton covered with the same fabric. Happy days!
Hope you're having a wonderful Christmas and I wish you and your family all the blessings of health and happiness for the coming year.
God bless
Winifred
