For those of you who are new to Elefantz, every year in January I share a free tea towel stitchery, and this year is no different.
With a blog theme in 2025 of "a new year of gentle domesticity", I designed the embellishment on this shop-bought unadorned tea towel to display that sentiment as a reminder for myself, and perhaps for you, through the months ahead. I never use my January tea towels for drying dishes or for kitchen work (I have more than twenty other lovely tea towels with hand crocheted edges for that purpose) but as a display over the oven door, in full view from anywhere in the kitchen.

Hand-in-hand with this year's blog theme of Gentle Domesticity, is a personal theme, a direction from the Lord that is holding me far more accountable than you'd initially think as it covers every area of life, and every page of the Bible. I decided to create a stitchery of the verse our Lord laid upon my heart for 2025, and did it in two versions to share with you.
The Bible is a page by page life lesson book, full of the Lord's wisdom, love, teachings, warnings and blessings. If there's one thing I have learned in my almost 34-year walk with God, it is to listen, and to do, whatever He tells me.
Mostly they are directions from His perfect Word, but He also guides me personally, especially in the still of the night when I am undistracted by everything around me...and it was in one of those night conversations He drew me into, that He seared this verse upon my heart and would not erase it. That was about two months ago, and each morning the words of Mary, given as instruction to servants at a wedding feast, are pondered and prayed about as I seek what He would have me do that day. Every morning in my Bible study I find more and more to take to heart, all lessons in my responsibility as a Christ follower in this increasingly ungodly world.
I displayed this stitchery in a pieced cover for my 2025 home and business diary, because I see it every day and am reminded Who it is I must follow, Who I need to listen to, Whose 'words in red' are the roadmap for my life, and Who paid the price for my life. There's no grey areas with Jesus, you are either on His side or you are not. You cannot sit on the fence if you're a professing Christian, and you certainly cannot be a closet believer. We watched the 2024 movie, Bonhoeffer, the other night, and if you ever needed to see how a life can be changed by following Christ, and how courage in a believer can change the lives of others, then I recommend you see it too. Highgy recomended.
Well my dear ones, this was certianly a long post, but I had a lot on my heart to share with you today, as well as the three free patterns.
I pray they all bless your love of stitching and creating, but mostly I pray your heart has been blessed today...for that's my desire this year, to be a blessing in what I write and design, and that you would prosper and be content in all the Lord has for us in our simple everyday gentle domestic lives.
Love

Thank you my dear friend, for the wonderful patterns, including your last post with the quilt blocks which I have downloaded. I love the new Tilda range of fabrics - very pretty. I also love your blue tea towel. Wishing you a blessed New Year dear Jennifer (great to hear Cully May is on the mend). xx
My morning devotional today was about John 2:5 so when I saw this post and the embroidery, I was overwhelmed and felt so blessed! Thank you once again Jenny for (as we say here in the US) hitting the nail on the head!

Thank you soooo much Jenny - you post was both a balm for my soul, and a challenge.
Thank you also for the patterns - the bible cover one fits perfectly with my (unexpected) word for the year - 'OBEY' !! As I mentioned in your last post, I will be making a Bible cover, and this will now be doubly perfect
Blessings

Hi Jenny,
I just wanted to let you know how encouraging your blog is to me. i love to read your posts about God's word, your faith and home making. I read your post about John 2:5 and just like Karin my devotion today also was about John 2:5. God was surely speaking to me with this verse.
God Bless You and Your Family,
Cindy
Jenny, I love how God gives evidence of His working all around the world! Last year when you posted "joy in the ordinary" I thought it was amazing that you had chosen to gift us with a project containing they very words I had felt God impressing on my heart to learn in 2024. Two weeks ago as I was studying His Word, I was impressed with the word "Obey" and started a word study on what exactly does this word mean. I had decided this was what I wanted to work on in my walk with God this year. I actually laughed aloud when I opened your newsletter yesterday and saw what verse on the project you were gifting us this year! God works in mysterious and wonderful ways! Thank you for being obedient to Him and sharing your walk with us. It is such an encouragement to know that on the other side of the world, there is a women working to pattern her heart and life after Our Savior! It makes me feel less lonely somehow.
Oh Amen! I love the instructions from Mary. The perfect words. Your words also are beautiful and wise!xxx
I am in UK also. Mary-Lou
How Lovely Jennifer, you are so good at inspiring me! Currently in bed with a horrible flu bug. But I have my Bible app, Bible, and radio beside me and a lovely book. RETURN TO THE DESERT. BYDavid Praill. Love Mary-Lou
I love these, thank you! You know, this reminds me of the story about 9/11 - one man, can't remember his name, led so many to Christ before they all perished. The plane had hit just below their floor, there was no way out, and he jumped up on his desk and yelled "I'm going to Heaven, who's going with me?" In the midst of the fire, he obeyed and did what Jesus told him to. May we always do that!!!!
Beautiful projects and a heartfelt post as always. X
Your posts are always so lovely and full of meaning, thank you. There is always at least one thing that rings out to me, that speaks to me. And your lovely patterns are so appreciated. Thank you for your wise words.

Thank you for your kind and inspiring words. And thank you for your tip about Olesya's You tube channel. I will check it out. My word for 2025 is Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day will have its own worries.
Thank you for remembering your USA sisters in the Lord. We surely have seen quite the unsettling earth tremors but we are not alarmed. He has told us things must take place before He comes again. I love your “Do” and wouldn’t a “Be” some verse then maybe a “Walk” in a manner worthy or some verse anyway I do so love your inspiring designs. I make your bookmarks and they are thin enough to put in birthday cards as so many I know are getting elderly and oh how happy they are to get even a tiny gift. Why are the aged so forgotten. :-(
Thank you and may Blessings and inspiration continue with you!
