Aaaah, just love that shabby chic look!

Thanks to all those who have wished me well with my hand. It was so much better earlier this week, then I got a bit too confident and decided to do some deep cleaning - of course all those boxes and suitcases that had to be lifted and sorted, emptied and replaced...well, my hand responded with a relapse and here I sit annoyed at my stupidity and nursing a swollen wrist again.
I shall wait until it's all recovered before I attempt to make heavy use of it again. A lesson painfully learned.

So what else have I been doing? I played around with some sketches for embroidery designs...do you like this one?

Well, I loved it - so I stitched it!
I added some applique, and chose some gorgeous silk thread for the roses - it added that touch of something 'special'.

To display the finished embroidery I painted a 50 year old vintage frame that belonged to my husband's mother. It had aged to a very dirty cream/yellow but a quick coat of white semi-gloss was all it needed to transform it, and now I have a beautiful new shabby chic addition to my walls!

This only took a day to do from start to finish, so I'm going to spend time this weekend doing some more sketches and hopefully make a partner or two for my lovely project in the coming week.

If there is enough interest I *may* share this original design with you.
Leave a comment if you'd like a copy.

I just love all your work. I have projects stacked to the ceiling and you are inspiring me to get going on most of them. Thanks!!

Your pillow ideas are wonderful. I have bunches of old linens and vintage embroidery pieces that could be put to use in this manner.

As for Shabby Chic - LOVE it. I sell lots of re-done pieces in the Shabby Chic style on ebay.

As to your wrist - if it's carpel tunnel you need surgery post haste! I've had both wrists done and it was the all-time best thing I've ever done. Waiting can produce permanent damage.

I like the sketch a lot. Was thinking how you could also do a "mod" interpretation like from the US in the 60's.
