If you are in the US or Canada, you will soon see this issue of Quilter's Newsletter hit the stands...
Journalist Linda Hungerford has written a wonderful article on stitchery in Australia, and I was blessed to be one of the Australian designers participating in both the interview and submitting a new original project for photographing.
You can see a sneak peek of the article HERE at Linda's blog. She's the loveliest lady, and has ties with Australia revolving around her 7 month old grandson, Tay, who was born here. Sadly for us, but exciting for Linda, her family will be returning to the States in July - this means an end to Linda's regular flights to our shores where she has made many quilting friends.
With a number of other designers I was asked to submit an original hand-stitched project that could be used in a quilt top. A short list was chosen from the submissions and I was thrilled to be on it.
The final design chosen to be published as a project was Gail Pan's "Little House", and if you can find a copy of the magazine I encourage you to make her little quilt - it's gorgeous!
You can visit Gail's blog HERE.
My own submission, whilst not the published design, was photographed for the article. Here are a couple of photos I took before posting it off to the US...
I had just finished stitching ~Bouquet~ and had fabrics left over so chose them to use in my 'Nature's Gift' wallhanging. The verse around the centre stitchery is taken from our Australian national anthem.
You can read many of my personal thoughts about Australian stitchery in Linda's article. I felt quite humbled to be chosen as a participant alongside some wonderfully talented designers!

Wish I knew about that while I was in America and I would have bought a copy. Congratulations to you for being included in the magazine.
Oh how I love a dresden. It's beautiful. In my humble opinion that should have been on the cover. :o)
Congratulations Jenny..Fabulous.!
cheers
Can't wait to see that Jenny. Congratulations.
Jenny, it was simply a treat for me to "meet" you to gather information for this article. Every Aussie (and one American) who were part of the story, are lovely people. I am so blessed to freelance write (albeit, sporadically!) about quilters. They're the bestest (I know that's not really a word) people, the world over. I know that for a fact!
I will have to zip out and get a copy-congrats for being chosen!! And have fun at the festival. L,A-
Jenny...I just read this article at Daystitchers on Wednesday and pointed it out to the others. It was really fun to share the it with them as they have watched me work on both yours and Gail's designs. It was an excellent interview and explanation of embroidery and stitching! I will be stitching Gail's little house next! BTW Daystitchers is a group of 20 some ladies who meet at our local library every Wednesday from 1-5 and work on their own projects together. I always look forward to the middle of my week!
Oh Jenny, your "Nature's Gift" is just lovely. Your work is so pretty.
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time at the Italian Festival. I'm secretly a little jealous. Heaps of Italian goodness all in one place.... Oh my!
Wow, I am so proud of you. Your stitching is always the finest..This is really quite a good thing for you.The exposure is good and lots of people get that magazine. so look out for Jenny?? Really good news Jenny and well deserved.
