Welcome

The door is open...welcome in.
Our first meal in the new home was Thursday night, and we had an extra guest - a friend of Slicer's. Freshly made lasagne, salad and garlic bread on the back verandah, surrounded by the trees....beautiful.
Having that verandah, and being blessed with trees on all sides, brings a soothing calm to the house...
We're still putting things in their right place. When Mr Elefantz and Slicer go back to work tomorrow Blossom and I will begin the real indoor transformation - laying out quilts, runners, and generally adding that feminine touch.
The sewing room was the last room to be unpacked and is almost finished...it leads into the main bedroom through one set of double French doors, and on to the front verandah through another set of French doors. If you look at the front of the house my sewing room is on the right.
This is the view from my bed...pressed tin ceilings all through the house, with gorgeous ceiling roses under vintage styled fans...
Above the doors are fretwork inserts...
...and on top of the bedroom walls are more fretwork, much simpler though. This means there is virtually no sound-proofing throughout the house, but the purpose is to allow cool air flow all through the house during the very hot tropical summers.
I'll share more internal photos tomorrow, or the day after...so I'll close today with Blossom's door. She is safe behind it resting from all the hard work of the last week.
Hugs,
Jenny

Congratulations, Jenny! Thanks for the lovely tour. That fretwork IS beautiful, but I don't think I can handle that lack of soundproofing, LOL! Good luck in your new home.

Thank you for sharing your new home. It does look very peaceful and serene. What is the space under the house, in one of the photos, there is a door open showing chairs. I am just wondering.
Hugs!!

You have been busy unpacking. Your new sewing room looks great. I love the soft colours throughout. They should be nice and cool in the summer. Weren't they ingenious in the early days to make their houses suitable for the climate. So different to down here where we want to be able to close everything up to keep the heat in.

Oh so tropical and peaceful - hope there are a few air conditiners hiding somewhere for later in the year. I can imagine you are all really tied and Mr E & Slicer re probably glad to be going back to work.

Your house looks wonderful! I think the lack of soundproofing will be worth it if the house stays more comfy with the fretwork. It's beautiful as well as functional. You have accomplished a lot in a very short time. I'm sure it is feeling like home and once the quilts and other touches get added it will be perfect! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful home, Jenny. The veranda looks so inviting and it does look like you are in a treehouse! All those gorgeous, large leafed vegetation! Just beautiful. It looks as if you could also have a party under the house as well...hmmmm. The fretwork throughout is oh so beautiful. It reminded me of the house I grew up in-it was Victorian and I remember my parents talking about how they tired of hearing me play my saxophone. That house was well vented...lol! Well congratulations on being blessed with such a lovely home! Oh, I like how your sewing room looks as if you have been there for awhile...lol..

hugz, Pam

It's so lovely to walk through your home with you! I want to comment and ask questions about everything I've seen. It looks so charming. The tin ceilings and fretwork are beautiful. And the outdoor sitting looks cozy. Do you have lots of annoying flying insects being so close to the woods? And why is the house raised off the ground? Does it flood? Wish I could come over for a chat and to deliver a housewarming gift. May you make many happy memories in this home. Blessings.

I love the look of your new place. It is so unique and once you decorate a little bit, it will be so you! I love reading your posts. I have completed my July little bird challenge, made a scissor fob out of the little bird embroidery and I have also completed Block 1 of the Daisy Do BOM. Please see my blog for photos at www.ohsewaddicted.com. I have linked to your blog there too :)

What a lovely house, it looks so peaceful - and so tropical! And such a clever design. The old part of our house has stone walls that are about two feet thick, which helps keep the heat out in the summer and in during the winter. I don't know why they don't make houses like that any more!
