Preparing to move again...

We are moving again!
If you are a long time blog follower of mine, this news will not surprise you as since beginning this blog in 2008 we have moved states once, towns three times, and homes five times.
Our next move will be early January, and will be to our 19th home in 21 years!
We were called gypsies on my Facebook page when I shared the news, and I think that is a perfect description!
So, first and foremost, I need to pack up my sewing room as our son is moving back home and will still need a bedroom in this current house for the next couple of weeks before we move to the larger house.
In between packing, Mr E, Blossom and I are watching through the extended edition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy as we wait for the release of the The Hobbit on Boxing Day...

...and while Blossom knits a dishcloth (with the cotton and pattern Stephanie sent me a little while ago)...
...I am stitching a pincushion from a recent issue of Australian Better Homes & Gardens magazine.
The threads I am using are from Weeks Dye Works; a prize I received earlier this year. LOVE the colours! The fabric is linen from a pair of trousers I found in an op-shop last year. It's wonderful to embroider on...
For those in Australia and NZ - in this month's issue of Patchwork and Stitching magazine you'll find two of my patterns!
I've been gradually collecting a set of crochet hooks, and needed somewhere to store them. Vicki in Canada sent me two beautiful handkerchiefs early in 2011. She said at the time that she knew I'd find a use for them - well, I used one of the hankies, and a favourite piece of fabric, to make a vintage style crochet hook hanger!
This is one of the patterns in Patchwork & Stitching, Issue 13/10, on sale now.
The second pattern in P&S is my lovely Lavender Fields small scented cushion. I love how they photographed it!
Best get back to some packing, then more Lord of the Rings. Fortunately the family don't mind simple lunches.
SAO's, Vegemite, and cheese. Now who'd complain about that?!
Have a wonderful day.

  1. Packing a sewing room is always so sad for me, since I know I won't see the stuff for awhile. Necessities are always unpacked first. Boo hoo. I hope the transition is a smooth one and Merry Christmas to you!

  4. Good luck with the packing, the embroidery is looking lovely I expect a few of your sewing items will still be at hand. My eldest when he was you younger was cheese and honey sandwiches.

  5. Ha! that's exactly what Hannah and I did with Lord of the Rings. It opened here last week but we have been at the beach but came back tonight so the plan is to go Thursday afternoon into town to see it. We can't wait!!!

  9. The one good thing about moving is that you don't accumulate so much "stuff". Boy would I be in trouble if I had to move . . I'm surrounded by "Stuff"!!!!

  10. Best of luck with the packing and moving and finding a special new place to call your home. Simple meals, movies at home, and something to create with your hands sounds like the perfect way to spend the day.

  11. As much as you move, you probably have certain containers that certain stuff goes into, and can pack up everything in a matter of days, instead of months. One good thing, is you won't have collect stuff and junk, because you move so much. I am in need of a good move, to clear out the clutter and junk myself.

  12. Congratulations....you'll start the year with a new house....so....new year, new home... I hope you've a happy christmas and happy new year... I send a big arm for you and you family.....

  15. I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never
found any interesting article like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.
Here is my web page : Instalación geotermia en Madrid

  16. We went to the midnight premiere of The Hobbit last Thursday - oh you will love it SO much!!! No spoilers. *G*

  21. Good luck with the packing and moving.

  22. We're NOT Gypsies. We've lived in 3 houses (3 different states) in our 25 year marriage. I really don't like moving. Hubby and I also watched the extended versions of the 3 LOTR movies last week, before seeing The Hobbit with the boys on Monday evening. Looking forward to the next 2 installments. Enjoy your move.
