Drumroll - the hand quilting is finished!

My fingers have permanent needle prick scars and the amount of blood I lost by sticking those fingers with a needle night after night would probably leave me needing a transfusion if it all happened on one day - BUT....the hand quilting of my Block of the Month, "at the heart of it all" is complete...
I quilted 1" cross hatched squares over all the patchwork areas, leaving just the applique blocks free...
This is the back for a better view of the quilting...
It's not perfect, but it is handmade-homemade and I love it!
This weekend I'll remove the basting thread and sew on the binding...
The patchwork heart at the centre of the quilt is the same as the one I shared HERE earlier this week in my tutorial, so if you're making this quilt you can run ahead and make your heart block now if you like...

It feels incredibly satisfying to have gotten this far on my quilt as hand quilting any large project is a massive undertaking of time, blood  and perseverance.

What's your most recent project finish?

Hugs and clapping for you because hand quilting is the best kind of quilting. I'll take hand quilting over machine quilting any day.!! Every stitch is a stitch of love. Janita

Es muy bonita, muy dulce. A mi me gusta mucho acolchar a mano. El tiempo es lo peor, que no hay tiempo suficiente en un día. Pero tú lo has conseguido. ¡Buen trabajo!

What a great accomplishment. I am working on small projects for McDonald House and projects for Seniors. Eye cases, totes, journals whatever inspires me. I did a queen size quilt hand quilted it and I enjoy smaller projects now.

Your quilt is wonderful! When it's washed, it will crinkle up so nicely around those rows of stitching. My most recent finish will come when I do the hand side of the binding I sewed on this morning. =)

It is so lovely Jenny! I bought myself some material today, hopefully for a quilt, as our local quilting shop had 25% off all fabrics this week :-)

LOvely hand quilting. I am a hand quilter and I don't like using a thimble as I like to feel what I am doing with the needle. Thus, a permanent callus on my left hand pointer from constant pricking. No fun when I haven't quilted for a while but after a time one becomes numb lol. I like my quilting to look like it was hand done if I am going to all that effort. I usually use perle thread 8. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing your pretty quilt.

Jenny, your quilt is beautiful! You chose wonderful fabrics that blend together, yet are also stand alone where you want to stop and look over each fabric. I also think your hand quilting is great. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful creative day!

Your quilt is beautiful. I love the soft look of hand-quilting, but just don't have the stick-to-it mindset. My last hand-quilting project is over 30 years old, and has only one corner to finish - time to drag it out and get it done! Thanks for the sale offer - I'm off to check it out.

Beautiful quilt! Awesome job with the hand quilting! I am finishing the binding, by hand *ugh*, of a challenge table runner for my longarm quilting guild.

Beautiful job!! I'm currently doing some hand quilting on the quilt I learned how to piece blocks on. I was informed (too late) that I shouldn't have used Warm n Natural as the batting for hand quilting. I understand why now. I don't think I should be struggling as much as I am to get my needle through the layers. What kind did you use?
