Earlier this month Lecien Fabrics sent me a few goodies to play with and included in the package was their new 'Retro 30's Child Smile' fabrics (you can see them all here) - two 6" charm square packs in fact.
It's been pretty challenging not having yardage or fat quarters to design with so coming up with a plan for using just the small squares required a few strong coffees, a fresh new sketch pad, and many sharpened pencils.
This line of fabric is gorgeous, and I know without a doubt that I'll be buying a few yards for a medallion quilt as soon as it hits quilt shops next month, but for now this is what I came up with.
It will become the centre of a mini medallion quilt (my prototype for the larger one I'll eventually make)...
At the moment I'm in the stitching stage...
...and hoping to finish it today because I also drew up a second version of this design and am itching to get my needle and thread dancing with it!
It's a smaller stitchery, surrounded by faux patchwork blocks made from tiny applique squares...
I don't know which one I love more!
Which is your favourite?
The smaller one will be included with the May Stitchery Club patterns.
I'll find a way to include as many of these prints as I can in both projects because I'd feel guilty choosing to use some and leaving the other cuties out. I know fabrics don't have feelings, but...?
I must admit, it's pretty darn nice to be starting a new week with happy prints and two new designs.
I hope your own week starts joyfully too!
